My SO are looking to go on a romantic vacation. We were planning to go to Arenal, Costa Rica but our dates have changed and the times we can now go will be smack dab in the middle of the rainy season there which essentially ruins our plans. Neither him nor I enjoy the whole beach thing (I burn on a cloudy 60 degree day with SPF 40 on and I’m not into ‘lounging’) so we’re not looking for a place like Cabo, Jamaica, St. Lucia, etc. I would love to go to Europe or Bali, but that’s out of our price range at the moment. We were really excited about the eco portion of Costa Rica and hiking the volcano, doing the zip lines, seeing the flora and fauna, and having a romantic, but adventurous vacay. I was thinking Peru, but he’s spent a month there already. I love historical locations or just being able to go do stuff during the day that doesn’t involve sun or water.
Is there another place like Costa Rica that’s reasonably priced that offers what CR does? Costa Rica seemed to have everything we wanted in a trip. I’ve been researching like a mad woman trying to find something comparable and all I’m finding are beach places and I’d be lobster woman by the end of the first day. Belize seems close, but is that all?
