It isn’t a hugely popular choice, but I am extremely happy with the furniture we bought for our LO’s room from Ikea.

We got Crib and Mattress (as a gift but I am estimating what it totalled), and really long dresser (that we will put a change pad on) for about $600. We ended up going with a pretty expensive modern rocker/ottoman as a trade-off (because we have wanted it for years, and after LO is older it will go in our living room).

Our total room budget (all furniture, linens, paint and decor) is $2500 (and I will be quite close to, but below that number if my estimates are right).

our mattress cost about $80 for a sealy ultra firm mattress from walmart

our crib came as part of a set of crib, dresser changing table, it was $199 on sale from walmart at that time.

we didnt buy a glider or rocker yet but again walmart and target often have better prices than babies r us, even for the same name brands

We bought our crib, changer and dresser from target for $600 and then we went to Macy’s furniture to find a big, comfortable leather glider/recliner on sale for $230

I’m not sure if you have one of these near you, but some friends of mine got really good deals on their nursery sets at Burlington Coat Factory. It sounds weird but they have a big baby section with really good prices.
