Claire Pettibone! Oooh...so good. By Claire Pettibone on Robertson, there are three other stores! One of them is Marilynnes. That would be the street to go to to really cover ground with them. Also, in Beverly Hills, Winne Coutour is nice. :) Good luck.
I went to these stores, but found my dress at Alfred Angelo! Go figure! That's on La Cienega.
Saks will be the best start. Vera Wang was supposed to open a new boutique this year, don't know what's up with that. Carolina Herrera is a couple doors down from ML. I always meant to stop by RMine Bridal in Glendale, but never got the chance, maybe some other brides can comment on that one. Montclair Collection on Montana is a small shop, but they have nice dresses from Pronovias, Cybelline, Amy Michelson, and I know a few people who bought their dresses there. If you want a nice sample dress, go to Glamour Closet on La Brea or Encore Bridal in Manhattan Beach! (If I had to do it again, I'd look harder for a deal...)
Thanks girls! I'll keep you posted on how everything goes ...
i suggest checking out glamour closet on la brea, designer sample sale dresses for about 1/3 the cost of a brand new dress!!
Wedding dress shopping. So jealous! I can only second your ideas: I also went to Saks Fifth Ave., but had the best luck at Monique Lhuillier with Megan. She was super sweet & patient. Carolina Herrera's store is next to Monique's, and I heard a rumor that Vera Wang (sigh) is opening up a store in L.A.
Sprinkle & Archibee, I found my veil the day before the wedding at Glamour Closet (good call) after searching for at least 1/2 a year.
Good luck & have fun!!!
Saks has the largest selection of wedding gowns in Los Angeles. Depending on what your budget is, they are a great place to start if you are looking for a high end designer. Keep in mind that their prices are well above those of smaller bridal salons and they do not discount at trunk shows. I went with a Kenneth Pool dress and the same one at Saks was listed at $500 higher than the same dress at R-Mine is Studio City. R-Mine bridal gives discounts of 10% - 20% at trunk shows and also will negotiate the price with you. Although, if you do go with Saks, you can get a 10% discount by opening and paying with a Saks credit card. Also, you can plan to buy the dress on a "gift card" day, which means if you spend over $3,000 (which you most likely would buying from Saks since they carry the higher end dresses), they give you a gift card for $450, which is the same price as their flat fee for alterations.
I also went to Winnie Couture in Beverly Hills. The dresses are very reasonably priced with the highest being $5,000. I wasn't all that impressed with the quality though.
Best of luck to you!

Hello LA ladies,
Where are the best places to go dress shopping that are actually in LA? My parents are coming in for a short weekend in a few weeks, and they want to go look at some dresses but I would like to stay close to home (west side), so OC and even the valley are out of range ... so far I am thinking Saks and Monique Lhuillier - any more suggestions?
Thanks!
