Beautiful! I can’t wait to see the MIRA in person someday. I vote for the trellis, it’s gorgeous!

I LOVE the trellis!  My dream ring would acutally be a petite trellis setting, and originally, I wanted a thick trellis setting like the one you have pictured.

***Warning*** I do not mean the following to be offensive in any way, and I’m offering my opinion here even though it may not have been asked for in this way.  I’m just offering the OP a bit of insight on my experiences with larger rings/hands.

I too have HUGE man hands (size 9.5 on the left, and slighly larger on the right!!!).  Have you actually tried a thick band on your finger?  The only reason I’m asking is because I used to think that a thicker band would be better for a thicker finger as you so often hear, but for me personally, that isn’t the case.  I know how difficult it is to “try on rings” and not be able to get them past the knuckle, leaving you with absolutely no clue as to how it will look on your hand.

Luckily, I inherited some of my grandmother’s and great aunt’s rings (that are size 9-10) and have been able to see a variety of ring widths on my massive mits.  Lol.  The thinner bands (~2mm) actually look the best because my finger fat doesn’t buldge out the side.  Also, my fingers are fatter at the base and taper a bit toward the nail area.  Another plus to a thinner band is that it makes the stone look a bit larger.

One way to try on thicker bands without having to spend a dime is to call local jewelers and see if they have a sizing set of 6mm bands.  Because the sets include mens sizes, they will even have size 11s.  The nice thing is that you even have your moissy, so you’d be able to hold it above the band on your finger and get an idea of how it might look in a setting of comparable thickness.

On the flip side, my great aunt had a solitaire on a 4mm band that does not at all look bad on my finger.  Also, a girl I went to school with had a 1.5-2ct princess cut in the trellis setting you have pictured, and it was BEYOND GORGEOUS!

P.S.  I think a 1.5ct round stone is the perfect size for your hand!  Congrats on the GORGEOUS stone, too!  I can’t wait to see some ring porn with that sparkler!!!!

I voted trellis…. but I am biased since my ring is a trellis also πŸ™‚

@misschickpea:  At least you have proportionate hands!  Lol.  I’m only 5’8, and my fingers are somewhat long but still have some extra pudge at the base.  πŸ™

I think the 3.5mm trellis would be PERFECT!  That sounds like it’s around the size of the Tiffany Lucida and the D’Vatche X-prong (both of which are “trellis” settings).  Can you tell I’m a bit obsessed with trellis settings?  Lol.

I can’t wait to see yours!  Please post LOTS of ring porn with hand shots!!!!  It’s going to be SOOOO pretty!

P.S. Were you the one who had a pretty three-stone halo setting with two sapphires and the 1.5 moissy did’t fit in the center?
