Haruyou:  As an ER nurse, I suggest he should not wear a metal ring to work. If he is only going to wear it outside work, he can choose any ring he loves.

Alternatively, he could wear a silicone ring which is safe to wear to work.

Haruyou:  hubby just suggested black gold. That can definitely be cut in case of an emergency.

Haruyou:  yep. I just did a quick search on etsy and there are plenty to choose from! I agree that maybe not wearing metal of any kind would be the best choice but if he does want a metal, gold would probably be the easiest to cut off in an emergency situation.

Haruyou:  Google Qalo rings! They’re silicone and very safe for a mechanic. They don’t conduct electricity and can easily be removed during an emergency. My SO is also a mechanic and plans to wear a Qalo ring while at work and his regular metal ring on weekends or when we are out weeknights. Another bee posted about Qalo and that’s how I heard about them.

Haruyou:  I was scared of the same thing for my husband! We picked a tungston for his first ring but opted for ceramic this time. If it gets smashed it will simply shatter, which is sad but at least he will still have a finger lol. His friend works in construction and choose the same thing.

They also have the Qulo rings and you should look those up!

My husband doesn’t wear a ring to work. He is afraid of getting it caught on equipment. So he has a nice ring he wears when we got out together. But those silicone rings sound super cool!

DH doesn’t wear his to work at an auto shop. No ring is worth his finger to me! One of his bosses had his ring geto caught and rip off the skin between the palm end of his finger and his last knuckle,  where his ring got stuck UNDER his skin and it was a trip to the ER. Soon DH is getting his ring tattooed on.

rosegoldgirl:  It’s not about being able to cut it off. We can remove just about anything if necessary. It’s about getting the ring caught and tearing the finger from the hand or maiming the whole hand if it is pulled into a piece of equipment.

Haruyou:  Clearly this is not metal, but my husband swaps out his band for this when he works out.  It’s a pretty cool alternative and very cost effective!

I wouldn’t wear one to work in. just get one for ‘going out’. consider a tattoo ring if you want. my dad’s a mechanic and he doesn’t wear his ring to work.
