I have very dark circles and I use MAC select moisturecover to conceal. then I use the MAC Prep+Prime to set it.
Not even a doubt, it is DermaBlend. It's like magic! They sell it at ULTA, and it will cover up anything! Even tattoos. It blends really nicely too. I discovered it because one of my besties has Roseaca, and before she had surgery her dermatologist recommended DermaBlend to make her skin look perfect.
I don't claim to know every type out there but I have done a lot of research as I've had under eye circles since I was a teen! Some of it will depend on your skin type, but for me these are the best:
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat: This is designed to reflect light away from circles so it will give you a 'glowier' look. It's very pricey but great.
Conceal FX Camouflage Concealer: A matte, opaque concealer. It's heavier so a little goes a long way.
Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit: This might be my all time favorite, but unfortunately I sometimes get eczema from certain products and this was one of them, so I can't use it anymore!
Also, the Maybelline 'stick' concealer is really pretty good. Try the yellow as yellow 'cancels' purple, then put a more neutral foundation or powder over it.
Concealer is tricky, I think because everyone has really different preferences. For undereye circles I believe you're supposed to use a yellow-toned makeup and then concealer over it.
I would check out the Laura Mercier line of products- I know that line has some products specifically targeted for undereye concealing and the staff at Sephora always speaks really highly of those products whenever I'm in the store (a lot. I'm on a first name basis with the staff, as it were.)
Personally, in general my favorite all-purpose concealer is Clinique Advanced Concealer. I swear I have tried a dozen concealers and always come back to this one- I like the consistency, it matches my skin perfectly and stays on!
On another note, have you thought about using an eye cream to treat your bags and discoloration? I highly recommend using an eye cream with retinol in it. Retinol will repair the skin by stimulating healthy cell growth and reproduction. It's done wonders for my acne and I started using an eye cream with retinol a couple weeks ago- can already tell a difference!
@Miss Burgundy...I have been thinking about using an eyecream with retinol in it..I have been researching and it looks like the ROC eye treatments are the most highly rated...I am trying to tackle the problem at both angles...Im tired of having discolored bags and wrinkles...I JUST TURNED 26!
Haha I hear you! I'm 23 but often get asked if I'm tired or told I have something dark under my eyes. My skin is really fair, and it's just thinner under my eyes so it LOOKS like I have dark circles!
Definitely try out the ROC and let us know how it is!
I used to look really tired all the time too (probably from late bartending hours) and though I never used Mary Kay stuff before, I ordered the yellow under eye concealer because a friend was having a party. It works great! I feel like I'm glowing and radiant when I put it on instead of tired-looking.
Thanks for all the suggestions ladies!! Im gonna research all of them and see which one I like! :)
I lurve MAC Studio Fix -- it covers flawlessly & also photographs really nicely!
Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer is the best I've used for undereye circles (I use MAC Studiofix for blemishes, but it just doesn't do it for bag-eyes for me); good for your skin, too!
Laura Mercier - secret camouflage
Make Up For Ever - 5 camouflage cream palette
Wanted to add that, if it's a shadow (vs. dark skin,) then you can never really cover it. A shadow is when there's a slight depression under your eye, either due to the way your face is shaped or your fat pads thinning as you age. The way the light falls under your eye it's actually in shadows, and you can't cover a shadow with makeup, if that makes any sense...
I have this to some degree and the best thing is to 'highlight away' from that area. For example, play up your lashes, eyeshadow, or liner to draw the eye up and away from the under eye area. Or use a rosy blush more at the sides of your face vs. on your cheeks just below your eyes, again drawing the eye away from that area.
Oh, just thought of another good one from Sephora - Stila! Another thick opaque one. The good thing about the super thick ones is they give you the most solid coverage, the bad thing is they are more likely to settle into lines if your skin gets dry at all.
We're on a crazy tight budget, so my fav less than $10 is Maybelline Mineral Powder concealer (it's liquidy with a wand). Tried quite probably 6 or so others.
I inherited crazy dark circles from my Dad. So unfortuntely, nothing but concealer is gonna work for me.
I really like tarte under eye defense and my mom prefers benefits boi-ing
If any of you are mineral MU lovers then no need to convince you. But for those who are mineral makeup virgins..youve got to try it. There are many brands..its overwhelming. What I found works great for my circles..kinda purplish cuz of the veins is anything pinkish peachish to counteract that bruising effect. Youve got to try everydayminerals.com you can get samples of their correctors or foundations..best buy ever..and will cover those yucky rings we ALL have!!
I have tried over 15 different concealers...here's my conclusion:
Clinique line-smoothing concealer is very good, especially if your skin is dry or you are worried about caking in fine lines
Maybelline cover stick is hands down the best concealer available for under $5
Murad vitamin C under eye cream is good but expensive. I use it before my concealer
I love erase paste by Benefit. It is the only concealer I have used that I feel actually stays in place and doesn't just fade or wipe away. LOVE it! It works for under eye, covering spots, when I get redness around my nose in the winter...
The way that you apply undereye concealer is so crucial to prevent aging skin. The skin around your eyes is VERY delicate, so you should never rub it--always gently blend in your concealer by patting it. Same goes for taking off eye makeup. Same goes for when you're drying your face with a towel (just gently pat it dry). Your skin will thank you in 10 years.
Sorry, I can't recommend any concealer; I'm still on the hunt for the ideal one!

Hey ladies! I have noticed that lately I have had bags under my eyes with some purpleish reddish discoloration...I usually use bare minerals to try to conceal it but its not working and it is bringing out the very few fine wrinkles I have under my eyes...do you ladies have suggestions for this particular problem? Thanks in advance!
