I have a pair of Spanx...bought in order to test for something to wear underneath my dress. I can say that they're comfortable. And the smoothing thing REALLY is noticeable. But as far as "sucking it in" I didn't feel that they worked all that great.
For instance, I had a friend tell me that wearing them brought her down a size or two. I didn't experience that. They helped the dress look better, but it didn't need to be a size smaller or anything.
Hope that helps!
I recently bought a pair of Spanx-like undies to wear under a bridesmaid dress and they worked pretty well. Tried the full body spanx but there was no way I was pulling them up and down the whole day, plus trying them on in the dressing room left me out of breathe, bright red, sweaty and with a headache... couldnt see going thru that numerous times during the day.
Shout out to D-Town brides!!
I have spanx and they are great shapers, and I look awesome in fitted clothes when I have them on. ( I have the slim cognito one (the good one that comes on a hanger, not the packaged nylon spanx)) It goes from right under my bust to my knees. I can breathe in it, it doesn't create any muffin tops anywhere or anything, but it doesn't make me need to get a size smaller or anything but then again I've tried TONS of girdles and shapewear and I've never had one that made me need to get a size smaller. What likely happened to the girl who went down a size using the spanx was that she was already in between sizes and the spanx just put her down to the next size lower.
Thanks for the info! Out of curiosity, has anyone wore a corset under their gown?
I worked as a bridal consultant for a couple years, worked with hundreds of brides, and I never had a bride use one, but mainly because a lot of dresses already have boning in them and a lot have the corset backs as well. If you want to do that, and it doesn't show through your dress, why not go for it!!
I use my spanx all the time. It's comfortable! You can bend, move & breathe... and it really makes a difference tucking in all the little bumps & lines.
It's the most comfortable body shaper I've ever used!! I have the high-rise body smoother. I totally want the hide & seek slip suit. I just worry that it will make my already small chest even smaller lol.
I use Spanx and they keep me down to the lower of the two sizes I'm between and smooth out any potential muffin-tops, but they don't really suck in very much. Maybe others are not experiencing this, but I know if I wear one *all* day I don't tend to feel very comfortable... it's like wearing clothes that are too tight for a full day and it starts to feel like cramps after enough hours. So if you go this route, try them out first.

Hey Ladies! I no nothing about undergarments, spanx, girdles, etc. and I want something to suck me in and look smooth under my dress. So in your experience, what looked & felt the best?
