I'm tying a ribbon around an enclosure, and I'm going to affix the ribbon to the back of the enclosure with double sided tape. I saw another bride on Weddingbee (reader, not a blogger) who had something similar, but the ribbon wasn't tied in a bow at the front, it looked like it had a little sticker or something. I'm sure you could do that with a sticker, or some kind of seal to attach the two ends of the ribbon together. One of the ideas the other bride had was for velcro, but she was concerned about it being too raised. I wish I could remember the name of the thread, it would probably have some good ideas for you. Michaels has all kinds of scrapbooking adhesives you could check out and experiment.
You can wrap the ribbon around like a belly band and affix with glue dots (available at Michael's or Paper Source). I just did this with my Save the Dates and it was easy and looked nice.
mrs emerald did a bow like this that laid flat: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/03/29/its-all-about-the-packaging/
What about using a flat ribbon to go around, and putting a monogram or wedding theme-related sticker over the ends to close it?

I want to tie our invite, map and rsvp card together with a ribbon, but don't want to tie a knot to avoid the extra bump charge at the post office. Any suggestions of how to get the ribbon to stick? Regular glue doesn't seem to work, and a staple is pretty ugly! Thank you!
