  • Wedding: October 2013 - The Fox Hill Inn

@Delphine12:  What part of CT are you looking? I just got married last fall at the Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield. The food was delicious and I really highly recommend the venue (it was an all inclusive… food, cake, linens). One thing that bothered us was that we couldn’t do a food tasting before our wedding, just a cake tasting. However, DH and I agreed that we were worried for nothing because the food was awesome and our guests raved about it too. I can send you a copy of the menu if you’re interested (although they do change it from time to time).

Hi,

I’m planning my Fall 2015 wedding too!  Right now our number one choice is an all inclusive with no choice for catering 🙁  But our second choice place would allow for catering.  And FOOD is at the top of our list dispite what everyone says about not being able to eat the wedding food on their wedding day!  For us we are looking at these Caterers, based soley on reputation:  Emily’s Catering in Bristol, Kitchen’s at Billings Forge (associated with the Firebox and if you read the chowhound boards at all, everyone loves the Firebox)  and Cafemantic in Willamantic (also farm to table centric).  Let me know what you find and where you are looking at!

Well the all inclusive place hasn’t gotten back to me in weeks.  So I’m not sure what to think.  They are new to doing weddings, they are mostly used to corporate functions.  It’s in downtown Hartford so that is a bit far from where you are looking I think.  200 people… I’m on the other end, I need to find a place that doesn’t have a 100pp minimum for Sat, since I only have about 70.

I have a personal friend that used to work at a local country club and made AMAZING food.  He’s really, really creative and has experience with weddings.  He left to start his own catering company and has staff and rentals of materials.  He’s doing the catering for my bridal shower! You can customize nearly everything to your desires.  Check out his site: http://www.shortbuscatering.com/

MrsCam24:  Hey @MrsCam24!  Does your friend cater events in Southern CT (like the New Haven county area)?

He does catering all over the state!  He’s based out of Norwich, but recently came to my bridal shower in Waterbury and got rave reviews from it 🙂

I’m getting married near Sharon, CT (just over the NY state border) & we hired McEnroe Organic Farm and Stissing House to cater our wedding.  Farm to table awesomeness all the way through.  Reasonably priced too given the area.  I don’t know how far they travel but would be worth reaching out!
