OK, so I'm totally procrastinating on the brief I should be writing right now, BUT...
Just wanted to share the great wedding present I received from my grandmother (who will not be able to make it to the wedding). She sent me two beautiful cut-glass candelabra that she and my grandfather received at their wedding in the early 1940s (shame on me for not knowing the exact year - it would have been 1942 or '43 probably). It's extra special because my grandfather died at the age of 26 when my father was only one year old, in 1948 - and it's one of the few things she has left from him. She also gave me a picture of them on their honeymoon, which is the only picture she had left of him (I will treasure it always and have it displayed on my mantel next to the candelabra). I can't imagine that any other present we'll receive will come close to being as special as this one!
Although my grandmother remarried (twice, all of them have passed away and so has my father), she always gets an extra twinkle in her eye when she talks about my grandfather, her first love.
