I used bestfares a couple times a few years ago. I'm not sure if it is different now, but back then I remember having to pay a small membership fee ($50 or so). Once the fee was paid, your can find deals on the web and then they connect you with travel agencies that will provide you with the specific advertised rates. Overall, I was very happy with the process and I saved quite a bit of money (even when you include the membership fee).
I would just enquire as to what happens if your flight is cancelled or rescheduled. I purchased a ticket a few years ago through one of those bid-for-fare services (to remain un-named) and when my flight was cancelled the airline was extremely unhelpful about booking me on an alternate flight. Essentially they said it was the responsibility of the service that sold me the ticket; they could sell me a whole new ticket, but that was all they could do. It was extremely inconvenient, to say the least.
Thanks for the tip Suzanno. It didn't look like bestfares was a bid for fare, but I'm going to ask just to be sure

Has anyone used bestfares.com? I found $600 round trip from San Diego to Prague. I was thinking of using them for our honeymoon. I know you have to have a membership, but I think it may be worth it.
