As a new homeowner/newlywed/young couple we are looking for some good places to get inspiration for our home style as well as places to buy the stuff!

A lot of my inspiration comes from home decor blogs which I love, but what are some of the stores that you guys love for purchasing stuff at??

We are lucky to have a Kirklands near our house which I love.  We got a nice wall clock for $20 when all the other stores (Target, Kohls, etc) were all over $80 for the nice big ones.

Overstock, Homegoods, and those type are stores are awesome but are really hit or miss.

I love Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, CB2, etc but they are all out of my price range.  Any one have any other good suggestions?

Kirklands is the best! I have recently gotten into doing a lot of DIY stuff so I frequent a lot of thrift stores for pieces to refinish. But my go-to stores are usually Kirklands, Target, TJMaxx, and Ross!

I was going to suggest Home Goods, Crate and Barel and CB2 but you've got that covered.

I also love Z Gallery.  their stock changes quickly so there is always a new source of inspiration.

@Meowkers: Does Z gallery have good prices?  It looked like some of their sale stuff wasn't horribly priced but the other stuff still seemed expensive.

I am in Canada, so I don't think you guys have these stores, but I cruise Winners, and HomeSense on a regular basis looking for stuff for the house (they are both discount stores). I love Pier One as well as Crate and Barrell, but I only shop at them once in a while, I kind of like digging through stuff at the discount stores, looking for a deal!

I also adore Pottery Barn from afar. West Elm is also a good one that I admire but don't necessarily buy. It's hard, though, because we are still in the "academic nomad" phase.

For cuteness and affordability, I enjoy IKEA and BB&B.

@caszos:  It's really a mix.  Some things are a little pricy while others are a great deal.  Just have to look.

Ive actually found some good things at thrift stores - more like little decorating pieces not anything big. Most of all I <3 Home goods - there is going to be one about 5 minutes from us very soon and I cant wait!

@Ms Mini:  Winners and HomeSense are the Canadian versions of TJ Maxx and HomeGoods.  They are all run by the TJX company as far as I know (I worked in a TJ Maxx when I was a teenager).  Even though it can be hit or miss with these stores, you can find some really nice pieces here.

I consider myself lucky that I live in the northeast where we have a beauty of a place called Christmas Tree Shop.  It's hard to explain the store, other than they have everything (decorative stuff, linens, furniture, kitchenwares, some pantry food, bath and body type products).  Most of what they sell is seasonal type decor, and it's not the heirloom quality, but it will add to your home.  I went yesterday and got a small accent table ($12.99) and some fake gourds, berries, and leaves ($4.99) and set up a decorative space in our living room!

Love Winners and HomeSense for some good deals! My newest favourite is Urban Barn...they have amazing fun little things for your house. I just bought a wall decal that says, "the soul is not where it lives, but where it loves," and we found awesome crimped sheep skin throw pillows here too!

A few places that I love back home are Tuesday Morning and Old Time Pottery.  They aren't everywhere, but they have great prices.  You can also find some good things at TJ Maxx, Ross and Marshalls if you go at the right time.

I can't think of anything to add other than Hobby Lobby for some wall art to the list from PP's, because I love all those stores.  I tend to wait for sales/clearance everywhere and hunt around.  I can find some good deals at Crate & Barrel when normally their stuff is out of our price range.  I also love West Elm sales, that's where we found really great prices on some curtains.  We're lucky to have a Crate & Barrel Outlet near us now, because that's heaven sent!
