I’ve tried on a bunch of fiited dresses and narrowed it down to 2. Adorae by Sottero & Midgley. The corset gave me an AMAZING shape but it didn’t really feel bridal. Sienna 7203 by Simone Carvalli was an amazing dress but it didn’t have a corset and can’t be made with one so it looked good but probably won’t give me that amazing shape.

I’m not buying 2 and I didn’t have a “it’s the one moment” in either dress so I’m going back to try on both and also going to one more store but so far I keep coming back to these two…do I go for the dress that is nice but looks amazing on my body or the amazing dress that looks just nice on my body?

@Bride16: Welcome to Weddingbee!
This is a hard question to answer without seeing the dresses on YOU, but here are my thoughts.
While the dress is a big part of your wedding day look, it’s YOU that makes the dress beautiful. That said, if it were me, I’d choose the dress I feel “amazing” in. Every bride deserves to feel “amazing” in her wedding dress.
I don’t want to put fear in your mind, but is it possible you might need to keep looking at dresses? From your post it seems that you feel you’ll be settling on either dress, and I don’t want you to feel like you’ve settled on your wedding dress!

Between the two I’d say #1 feels very bridal and if it makes you feel amazing then go for it. #2 has a little too much going on for me personally.
Gemstone does have a point about settling. You have a lot of time don’t rush until you feel really good about the decision. Why not go to more shops?

I have actually been to a lot of shops and I keep comparing every dress back to both of these. I’m going to one more but I think the Simone Carvalli dress is amazing. It was just a little small and I don’t know if getting when it fits me perfectly if it’s going to make me look as good since the Sottero and Migdley dress has a corset. I feel like I love the Simone Carvalli dress a lot more but just love how skinny I look in a corset.

I would keep looking at other dresses. You don’t sounds THRILLED about either one of these.

@Bride16: You’re right, a corset has a great effect. But there are other ways of making yourself a little extra skinny (Spanx!) if the Simone Carvalli is the one you really want!

Ok I LOVE the Maggie dress and I think it looks very bridal.
I was in the same spot as you, one dress made me look amazing and ones felt more like my dream bride picture. I went with the one that made me look amazing because I figure I will make the dress not the other way around!

I love all the feedback. This is so hard because I don’t love the Sottero & Midgley dress even though I love how I look in it. Then I love the Simone Carvalli dress but I just don’t know how I will really look in it until I order it and it comes in. The sample was just too small to be sure. Did anyone order a dress without being able to close it and if so, how do you know it will look good?

You’ve probably already done this, but what about doing back to some other shops and showing them a picture of the Simone Carvalli dress and saying “What do you have that looks like this, but with a corset back?”
Maybe you can have the best of both worlds!

@Goldilocks1107: I agree. There are so many dresses out there, it sounds like you’d be settling with either one of these.
Take what you like about each and search for the ‘one’.
Also, a good seamstress should be able to fit you nicely in a dress that doesn’t have a corseted back to make you look tiny, you’d probably just have to wear some shaping undergarmets or have something built in under the dress to shape you. They can build in a bustier with a corset or you could get one and then be fitted.

So great news. I went to a trunk show for demetrios and I found one I loved everything about. I still didn’t cry like some brides but I was happy with everything about it and I bought it. I wish I could include the link but it’s the new collection that isn’t out yet so there are no pictures on the web. Thanks everyone!
