Just wanted to warn the other brides out there about some bad customer service I just received from Bridal and Formal in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In March, I ordered a dress with Bridal and Formal. I was worried about ordering a wedding dress 6 months from the wedding, so I opted for a bridesmaid’s dress which they assured me would be in sooner. They quoted me that it would “easily” be in within 3-4 months and I would have plenty of time to have it altered. (they insisted I buy a size up, even though the sample fit me perfectly…)
Four and a half months later, I received an animated call saying my dress was in and ready to pick up. It’s 20-some days until my wedding. Since I didn’t have the dress in the promised time (which I was quoted in the store, and which their website also claims) I had to find another dress to purchase off the rack.
Even though Bridal and Formal didn’t hold up their end of the deal by delivering my dress in time for me to *drive* to Cincinnati, and have it altered, they refused to give us any money back and we were treated curtly and defensively on the phone.
If you’re going to order a dress from these people, be sure to read the fine print and don’t trust what their representatives tell you verbally. Also don’t believe their website, this information is also misleading. They’d rather make a buck than see a happy bride.

@soychailatte: I never ended up buying a dress from this store, but I did go and try dresses on twice. I was treated horribly. Luckily, the dress I wanted wasn’t there, so I didn’t give them any business.
I’m really sorry this happened to you!

I bought my dress from Bridal and Formal, and they quoted me 6-8 months. I ordered in December, and it was in by March, which was three months.

I have to say that I had completely the opposite experience at Bridal and Formal. I ordered my dress in October 2009 and it arrived February 2010. My mom and bridesmaid’s have also gotten their dresses there in record time. You could have had them ship the dress to you. I did that since I live in DC and had no problems. I loved my entire experience there so I don’t think anyone should beware. Yes you should always read the fine print and I have also heard that you should always tell the bridal shop that your wedding is one month before it really is just in case. They order the dresses from the designer right after you pay so it might be the designer that was late and that is out of their control. If you do go to Bridal and Formal, I had Cynthia as my consultant and she was amazing. She ended up picking the dress for me that I chose.

I am a second time bride (first husband passed away) and purchased both my wedding dresses from Cincinnati Bridal and Formal. I did not have a bad experience either time, though I probably should hold that thought since my dress is supposed to be in this week! They are at the designers’ mercy unfortunately, and while they can express an opinion about what usually happens, sometimes they’re going to be wrong.
I think your experience is going to change as your consultant changes, also. I went twice this time around; once to try on a bunch and narrow it down to a few and then back a second time with my sister so she could see the chosen ones and decide from there. My first bridal consultant was nice and helpful, but very young and much more traditional than I. My second bridal consultant (which I received because my first was burdened with three brides when I arrived) was fun, outrageous, full of personality and pulled the sass out of me. :^) I also got my dress, veil and rhinestone headpiece for less than I thought I’d be spending on the dress alone so that was a nice surprise!
I’m sorry you had a bad experience and hope everything turns out ok in the end. It’s definitely a stressor you do NOT need in wedding planning!

@tess75: So true. One of my bridesmaids got her wedding dress there and LOVED it. But that’s okay, as long as we all find something that works for us!

I think this is one of those cases where customer service is pretty much going to be hit or miss no matter where you go. I went to DB and had a fabulous experience while others do not. I say take the time to make your own opinions.

Gosh, that makes me nervous. I did order my dress from Bridal&Formal and had a really great consultant. I may actually start calling every month just to double check on the arrival of my dress. Thankfully, I ordered WAY early, so hopefully they can’t mess it up….
So sorry to hear you had such a bad experience 🙁

i know this is a REALLLY old thread but id just like to say i went to B&F to try on dresses twice first time i had Tracy i told her i was not going to be purchasing a dress today i just wanted to figure out what i liked and i was newly engaged and really excited to try on dresses! She said okay and i picked out some dresses the only other person with me was my college roomate. so i found a dress i really liked but again i wasn’t going to buy it b.c i couldn’t lol! But she took me 2 “paris” and did my hair which hurt like hell. and then kept telling me my grandma could just look on the webcam online and see me in the dress and i told her that wasn’t going to happen and then she didnt even help me out of my dress and jsut left me and my roomate back there in the dressing room alone.
about a month went by and i went to try on dresses there again and i told my mom allll about the situation and when we got to the store the lady asked if i remembered who i worked with and i just said no even tho she was standing not 20 feet from me and my party competely giving us the stink eye. So we got Korey who was AMAZINGG!! she was sooo helpful and didn’t push me but was honest. loved her.
SO bottom line if you go don’t get tracy. shes rude. but korey is awesome. def recommend her! if u do plan on going take a week day off and go right when they open and you will have a great experience (:
