I started using bio oil last week and after a few days I noticed skin coloured bumps on my breast so I stopped using it. The bumps are now red and itchy and all over my chest and stomach. I don’t even think I applied bio oil to the area of my chest I am having a rash unless it spread while I was rubbing it in. The rash is visible above my shirts so its making me self conscious. It has probably been red for 3 days. I think it’s an allergic reaction but I can’t be sure. How long should I wait before going to the doctors? Was anyone else allergic to bio oil?

i used bio oil on a scar following an operation and i found it really clogged my pores which resulted in horrible red bumps. it so greasy.
I did read that bio oil isnt the best thing to use during pregnancy. I cant seem to use any topical lotions at the moment as i come out in a rash

@mufflerlove: Stop using it, and put some calamine lotion to calm the irritation.
If you don’t see improvement in a few days, I’d go to the doctor. If it spreads go see a doc immediately.

I researched bio oil a lot last year as I was using it on my arms leading up to my wedding. I can’t remember what the chemical was called, but there is something nasty in it so I stopped using it. Maybe try a more natural product.

Yipes! I’m glad I read this as I have sensitive skin and was thinking of using it. Hope all is better by now! D: Right now I’ve been using pure cocoa butter and having no side effects.

Preggo skin is more sensitive apparently. I was using coconut oil (oil bc it absorbs better than lotion), and became allergic to it! my ob/gyn said she sees that allergy all the time in preggo women, and recommended using my regular lotion, and then topping it off with vitamin E oil at night. So far….no allergy reactions!
