Fiance and I are planning a nature-themed wedding. Our cake topper is little birds, there are nests on the table, lots of leaves and greenery, and the whole venue has a lot of wood and stone. We’re having little seedlings as favors along with Bloom notes fro mStarbucks, and using recycled paper for most everything.
I was planning on having a bird cage for the cards, but Fiance has pointed out that it kind of goes against the nature theme, since a bird in a cage isn’t free.
I’ve tried to find a bird house, but can’t seem to find one that has a way to get cards back out, even if we did cut a slot in the roof.
Any suggestions or ideas?

I’m going with a bird theme and originally thought I’d make a cool tree/nest card box. But it was too rustic for my overall theme, and went with a birdcage instead. But here’s what I envisioned:
Wrapping a large cardboard hat box (circular) in those birch strips to make it look like a tree stump. Then I was going to put a vine wreath on top and line the inside with moss. I planned on cutting a slot through the top (in the nest) and then putting some birds on the edge or some feathers. Not sure if you can picture it, but it sounds like it’d fit your theme! 🙂

I can picture it and I love it! We’re definitely doing a formal/rustic mix (formal dress, rustic decor). I’ll have to see what I can find in the way of tall hat boxes and birch strips…

@Osakagrl – Well, that would be Fiance doing that. He’s a little overly analytical sometimes, and now he can’t let it go! This is our cake topper (the first thing I bought after we got engaged):
