The last wedding I went to the bride wore a short birdcage veil, just like what you're talking about - she actually kept it on throughout not only the whole ceremony, but also half the reception! It was a little weird, IMHO, that she wore it while eating, etc. I think it was integral to her hair, because at towards the end of the night she sat down at our table and finally took it out (it was cute, her groom tried to help her, but ultimately I did more to help) and without the clip her whole hairstyle kind of fell out. She just shook out the curls, but they definitely wore the day by that point.
So yeah, you can keep it down for the kiss. :)
I was just at the shop trying on those different fun things, one was a bird cage veil and the lady helping me moved it up and back ... and it looked really cool.
Just personally ... I wouldn't want it down. It's weird to see through.
i don't think birdcage veils are supposed to be lifted up. i assume it won't get in the way - like kissing someone with glasses?
I have the same problem except my veil goes past my chin.

So, this seems kinda funny, but I was wondering - if you wear a short birdcage veil (one that only covers your eyes) - when it's time for you to kiss your groom, does it get all pokey/scratchy/in the way? Or, what are you supposed to do with it? I don't think you lift it up, right?
