So this is probably a stupid question but I have no idea so here goes. I haven’t been on the pill for around 2 years or maybe more. I am about to start again to cover the wedding and honeymoon but after that we will be ttc. I’ve seen it that you should take prenatal vitamins for 3 months before ttc but can you take those at the same time as being on the pill? Can you buy prenatals over the counter or have to go to see the doc?

@Mrs2b2014: Sure, you can take them at the same time. It’s really just a multi-vitamin with extra folic acid. In the US you can just buy them at the store. They are next to the other multi-vitamins. I eat a healthy diet so I mostly just took folic acid in the months prior to us TTC.

Yup, my gyno recommended that I start taking them a year or two ago (she knew this was several years before TTC). I was still on BCP until a month ago. You can buy them at any pharmacy!

@Mrs2b2014: You can definitely start taking prenatals now! A little unsolicited advice though, A LOT of women take awhile to regulate their cycles after getting off of birth control. I’ve just gotten off birth control and I didn’t ovulate this first cycle. I would highly suggest you not getting on BC if it’s just going to be for a really short time. Or just be prepared that it may take you several months before your cycles regulate.

of course you can take them at the same time. pre-natals are just a daily vitamin with the nutrients built for a woman who is pregnant or wants to be pregnant.

@Tomato22: thanks for the advice and I understand where you are coming from. I just would.not.cope with having my period at the wedding I almost throw up in pain each month so that would destroy my day. I think ill just rink it and hope that for a matter of 4 months it wont destroy things too much.

@Mrs2b2014: I definitely understand that! It’s nice not having to worry about it during your wedding. I just wanted to make sure you were prepared in case it does take your body a little while to recover!
