So I’m just curious about this, as I’ve never had this happen before. Back in February I went for my annual PAP and physical and everything was completely fine. I needed a new prescription for my pill and ended up missing 1 full week, but didn’t realize it until I’d already been taking it for about 2 weeks. I decided I’d stop and let my body get itself back on track. I got my period as normal, no changes from any other time. It’s been about 3 weeks since then, and I just wondered if anyone knows once you go off the pill for the first time in 5 years, does it take a while to get your body back on track. I’m mainly concerned with screwing up my cycle and thinking I’m fine and winding up pregnant. My FI and I still use a safety net just in case, but its no where near what it was! Can anyone give me a touch of confidence?

You should be fine. As long as you used back up while you were letting your body re-adjust. Your period might come at a different time now, but I’m nit certain about that.

I’m sure you’re fine. Your body may be a little out of whack this month and your period may be a bit screwy, but after that you should be fine!

Wait, so are you taking the pill now or not? And how long has it been since you have taken the pill? If you have been off the pill for three weeks it is possible and rather likely that you have ovulated, which means you could get pregnant if you do not use protection. Since you are using protection, you likelihood of pregnancy depends on the efficacy of the method you choose.
Is your question when you should expect to get your period? You’re right that some women do not get their period right away after they have taken the pill for a long time. But if it’s only been three weeks, then you still have at least another week to go before you should expect to get your period and then resume taking the pill. If you don’t get your period even after several more weeks have transpired, I would contact your doctor to discuss what you should do.

I am not taking the pill right now. I was figuring at least a month or so to give my body time to adjust, but I just get paranoid that somethings wrong, or I don’t know. My FI and I have decided to abstain from here until the wedding. We’ve only been intimate a few times anyway, but we ALWAYS used protection. It just felt like it was taking a lot longer to get my period than normal, but I’m thinking now its more or less because I’ve been trying to “track” it.
