If it was someone's birthday at your wedding, did you do anything to acknowledge it? What did you do?

ooo that is a good question!! i keep thinking about that because my cousin is coming to my wedding on her birthday... i'm not sure if i should personally say happy birthday over a mic or something to her or the DJ said we could sing happy birthday to her... not really sure what to do

I would bring them a mini-cake or something, but no one I am inviting has a birthday the same day. lol.

I'm hoping that commenting on this will bump this thread up so that more bee's see it during the post-a-thon. I could really use the advice!

Dont make a big deal about it on your wedding day not trying to be rude but i agree with a mini cake even one that says happy bday to so and so... i wouldnt go as far as announcing it on the mic.

If she's invited to the rehearsal dinner it would probably be better there - more intimate, it's normal for you to be gifting people, acknowledging others.

If she's not coming to the rehearsal.. If it's a big wedding (70+): I just wouldn't do anything. Maybe take a moment to go over and say how much you appreciate her being there.  If it's a small wedding (70-): I think a small cake would be fine.

My thinking is that with a big wedding, people are going to wonder what's going on and it will be a bigger deal than it needs to me as they talk and try to figure it out.

It's funny because my wedding will be on one of my (male) cousin's birthdays.  We've been joking about it all year, and so far I have been successful at having the family sing happy birthday to him at every holiday so far to (over)compensate ;).  I think in my case, for the two people whose birthdays it will be (my cousin and the bf of my mom's best friend) that they will not feel like anything is necessary.  If it were a close relative maybe (like most immediate family), but otherwise no.
