iarebridezilla:  I would love a duck in a birthday hat. We don’t do birthday cards because I am a teacher and we have 100 or so teachers in my building (huge school) but I can see how annoying it is!

A duck in a birthday hat would be my favourite birthday card entry ever! 😀

(Also, off-topic, but I LOVE practically every thread you start, you are very entertaining!)

iarebridezilla:  Totally. Nothing says Happy birthday like a duck in a hat. Good call. Maybe you should make this your theme from now on – choose an animal based on the person whose birthday it is and give it a hat. Problem solved.

I can’t remember ever devoting this much energy to the process. The card comes. I wish them well and sign my name. I pass it on to the next person.

Done.

iarebridezilla:  I would also love a duck in a birthday hat, its delightfully festive! We dont actaully do that at my current office, but my old one was really bad for it. We finally just decided to have out receptionist write “Happy Birthday from all of us” in each card. No one cared if we’d all signed it and cards went missing all the time so we’d have to track them down or start all over. Sometimes they collected cash for a group gift if it was a big birthday and the card with all the cash went missing a few times… they were usually under a stack of files on someones desk, but it was a ridiculous amount of chasing cards unnecessarily! now my work is too big and spread out for that, so we just go out for lunch with our small dept. or have a group ceebration every month.

LOL  I just got a birthday card today signed by all my office mates.   I really don’t need a card, but it’s a nice thought!

I always read the inside, because that’s the nice thing to do!

iarebridezilla:  Everyone thought it was heartless when I suggested it, but once money started going missing, it suddenly became a better option lol. Im not a card person though, I think theyre so pointless and EXPENSIVE!!! I’d say less card, more cake! But cake is definitely more of a priority in my life than most things lol

iarebridezilla:  Forget drawing in people’s cards, I think you should design your own range of animals in hats birthday cards. Why limit the creativity to your own office. Although then of course you’d be back to the original issue of what to write in it…

PS. I was really sad the nemesis thread was closed. It was hilarious!

OMG.  I hate the birthday cards!!!!  Even worse was when we had to have cake for EVERY. SINGLE. BIRTHDAY.  And there are almost 20 people in my office.  We finally got the chief party-thrower to stop with the cake – it got to the point where it was annoying to have to stop what you were doing and go eat crappy cake!
