Once they turn 10, I give nieces and nephews cash for their birthdays.

My niece is turning 9 in a few weeks and she told me she wants clothes, nail polish and headbands with bows. For Christmas I got her a kid sewing machine from Target and she loved it.

Since you don’t see her very often, how about an experience gift?  Plan a special trip to see her when her favorite singer is playing or something.  Or a day to a cool museum, or an amusement park…

My niece is 6 (and three quarters if she is the one telling you her age haha) and I started giving her an experience gift to the local amusement park last year for her birthday.  She loved the kiddie rides, and eventually she will grow into the more adult rides.  I plan to make it an annual thing.  I actually stole the idea from MY aunt who took us cousins all to the same amusement park when we were young.  I loved it, and my niece loved it last year, hoping for the same this year.  🙂

How about a Scalextric or a chemistry set or a telescope (plus a visit to the local Astronomy club) or a visit to NASA.

(Engineering, chemistry, astronomy, physics – don’t forget that they are so much fun!!!!!!)
