Our wedding is not until next August and at this point we’re stuck on red and green as our wedding colors. We definitely don’t want it to look Christmassy but red and green are both of our favorite colors and I’m attempting to use the red just as pops of color. We’ve been focusing on all shades of green and darker shades of red. We’re also entertaining the idea of emerald green with light pinks instead of reds. We’re going for a bookish, vintage, European theme. I am thinking that the bridesmaid dresses will be the color at the bottom.
So, FI and I have been collecting green and red wedding decor since they may be our wedding colors. Here is an incomplete mock up for our centerpieces. Here are some of the vases we would be using. (Please ignore the background mess and the fact that the flowers need to be cut!) 🙂
We want to add stuff like this to the centerpieces (in black):
I wanted my main “green” to be this color here:
So what do you think? We want there to be a touch of sophistication but we are young and want it to be more us and fun and vintagey. Everything feels kind of cheap looking to me so far :/ Not sure if we should just ditch the red. Any ideas?

I think it will look good! And done the way you are, there are no other things that look like Christmas so I think it will be fine. I like the books in the centerpieces!

I think it looks lovely – especially with those lovely spring/summery flowers. I really like it.

I think you’ll be fine. One suggestion you may want to try is a mismatch of the books (red and green together). Or, possibly clear vases instead of the colors. Just a thought…

Just want to add…
Most important question: Do *you* love it?
If so, it doesn’t matter whether all the women on here say they don’t, or that it’s too christmassy, because it’s not their wedding. Do what makes you happy!

Thanks everyone! 🙂
Nellop: That’s what we were just thinking. We love the two colors so we’re just going to go for it! Thank you :))

I think the green definitely goes with your theme, but I don’t like the red vase- that does look a little Christmasy to me. If you want to incorporate red, maybe just use it as an accent color in the flowers and keep the red books.

You should check out Mrs. Pony (a bee blogger) – she had a red and green wedding and had the same worries about it being too Christmas-y. She’s just now starting her recaps but you can check out her pre-wedding progress in the meantime. Start here:

will this help?
=) because im doing a red and green wedding too! but for springtime. let’s try and share ideas and pictures!
my idea though is to make it mostly red and neutrals, and adding accents of green. i’m having trouble making it work though, because its hard to find the right, springy shade of green to go with my reds … esp with paper crafts, but i’m crossing my fingers!!
overall, i love your mockup photos. add pops of red with the green, black and white would be so great! i don’t like the red vase either. maybe use it with ribbons and more in the books or as text on paper instead. have some small red flowers mixed in with the daisies. just suggestions to think about! have fun and good luck with the results!
