Super cute! I love black, and wear it every since day, so I've told all my guests they have to wear black since I have to wear white! :)

@bamm: i totally told my mom I wanted her in black and thought she was going to have a heart attack her response was "i will not wear black"

I'm thinking this for my mom...

But i LOVE this jacket for her with a great black skirt (i think she may wear a great skirt)

@bamm: i think she about had a coronary when I told her I wanted the bm's to wear black. lol!! since i will wear gold, i actually want to be the only person in it (that i can control) so mom and fmil (that's the first time i've said that lol!!) will be in a silver or the violet color above (btw i like it so much that I am considering adding it into my colors.. )

@km: i just shot the email to three out of the four lol!!

Ohhh you're wearing gold? That's amazing! I really really really wanted a black dress...and I think the family knew that.  My mum and aunt made a 'preemptive strike'  - caught me in a corner and asked with super raised eyebrows...'you're NOT planning on wearing a black dress ARE YOU?'  In the end...I decided to pick my battles and gave in to the white.

    I'm a fan of the violet.^^

ha ha ha! Well at least your mum is on side even if it is for 'interesting' reasons!

I love the dress! Have you tried it on yet? Are you going to do a veil? - and if so - is it going to be in gold?

Ill be honest, I LOVE that dress, its something I would buy for myself. That being said, I dont think it is going to look good on brides of all sizes. It will look good on your taller, thinner BMs but I dont think it will be flattering on your size 16 or 18 girls. I would definitely have them try it on first, and make sure you let them be honest with you! But, if all your BMs end up looking great in it then go ahead! Its the perfect wear again cocktail dress!

I am not good at technical terms but the waist where there is some pleating or gathering might make some girls look pregnant.  I am always worried about that with dresses.

You can have them try them on before ordering them, right?

@clarebee:i only have one 16 or 18 girl that is around my size and to be honest with you, I'd love wearing that dress.  She is more of an hourglass shape and actually wears rather form fitting clothes (LOL) but I will check with her tomorrow to see what she things.

@bamm:i haven't tried it on quite yet, the local store doesn't have it yet, they told me to check back next month when they get some of the 2010 line in, but a good thing is they think that the dress may be able to be brought in under the loaner program (woohoo!!). I am glad that I won't be trying dresses on until next week so that I can lose a bit more weight before wedding time (I still want my curves, etc but I am way too heavy right now, besides the boob to gut ratio is out of whack at my current weight)

@charm: i didn't think about that (i was noticing the price more than anything lol) if they don't like it, then I will definitely just let them do their own thing on the selection, it's not that important, i just thought the price was a good one. unfortunately NONE of my bridesmaids reside in the same city as me (well except m's sister) and i haven't asked her yet... i should be able to try on the dress though to see if it looks okay on her

@december:everyone has a pretty great hourglass shape and my sister modeled so she pretty much looks great in everything, my cousin has a dress very similar that i picked out, and i think my bestie does too lol!!! the only person i'm semi concerned about is M's sister and she and i wear the same size and she has dresses similar as well, but luckily i will try it on for her and see if it works out...

@crebre: I think the dress should work then. After all, black is a very forgiving color ;-) Here's a pic of me and my bridesmaids. Their dress is by Jim Hjelm.

@mimi: omg i hope that it looks good on me so I will know for sure that it looks good on M's sister.  But I really do like it and actually wouldn't mind owning it lol!

Wow, great ideas!  I love that BM dress and think it will be universally flattering for your gals.  I had my BM wear black dresses, too, and I loved the classic look in the photos.  OMG, that Maggie in gold on you will be freaking fantastic!  (Hey, our color scheme was ivory/black/gold/champagne).  And my mom actually wore a black dress.  She had a champage one picked out, but just didn't like how it fit.  About a month before the wedding, she changed to a black dress she bought at Macy's (will look for the link).

Have you ever thought about letting them pick their own black dresses? It's something that I'm doing, and I am SO excited about it!! Here's my inspiration pics.

If you're sticking with all the same black dress, I do like that Target dress a lot. A+ on "re-wearable".

@alundberg: yep, it was what i wanted them to do until they all went crazy on me.  "no it won't look right" wait what why do i have to pick it that is your job, are you serious no, i don't want to do that. (and i just told them they were in my bridal party YESTERDAY!!)

@jessie: where are your pictures?! omg how cool is it that the colors are so similar? i am throwing a bit of silver in just for good measure (and the holidays are always sparkly) and some pale pale blues.  my mom was sooo cute she goes you need the snowflake paper so that it shimmers, you know what i'm talking about.  and i was like the metallicy paper (she screams YES) that would look so fantastic. lol i was like okay mom that's a definite yes.  i am pretty sure she wants my wedding to look like a winter wonderland (i hope she doesn't start buying stuff) i want it to look like a pre-nye soiree.... we'll see who wins

@rosie: thanks exactly what i was thinking, they could rewear it. i know actually each of them do a lot of christmas parties etc and the dress would be awesome to wear during one, i'm thinking i may buy it too since i like it so much LMBO!! but i want to purchase it for them as their bridesmaid gift.  all of them have black shoes already that are great so there's no problem with that.

@crebre - I got a bit of push-back from my girls too, at first. But then I explained the logic behind it. Weddings are so expensive, and most BM dresses (except for that awesome Target one you found) are crazy expensive. If they can get a dres they LOOOVE (or wear one they already have), and it fits them - both their style and personality, then it's the best of both worlds!! Plus, then they can to go an actual store and try it on (vs ordering and waiting for it), and what's more re-wearable than a black dress you pick out yourself? It worked so well for my girls, and we found some AMAZING pink shoes so we all have the matching shoes. I die everytime I see them!!

@crebre80, sorry I didn't see your message until today.  She bought that dress in the sand color, size 14.  She just bought it from Target.com.  I've found several great cocktail dresses at Target that I've worn as wedding guests, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for the BMs too!

@alunberg: I am actually in love with an Alfred Angelo dress and all of the ladies love them (they are 140) all of them say they can't wait to wear them.

    @lindsey: cool!!!

@jessie: i'm soo just seeing this, have you uploaded your pictures yet?!

@sboston: i totally agree with you on the cocktail dresses, i am hoping I can find a cool one for the rehearsal dinner or bridal showers this spring.
