This is your day! Wear whatever you want to. My dress is white with a black sash and cascading flowers. My parents were a little surprised but agree the dress is “me”. I’m so excited to wear it on MY day!

Looove the all black one! I think that it’s silly that brides limit themselves to white or cream/off white. 🙂

joegiggle:  Love the all black! seriously in this day and age you can do whatever you want! (I mean really.. the traditional reason for wearing white probably doesn’t apply to the majority of brides now days anyway lol)

I saw a black dress the other day that was to die for.. I think if you want to make a statement and don’t want to go the traditional route then go for it!

joegiggle:  The only hesitation I would have is that any older relatives in attendance may be aghast- but that doesn’t necessarily need to stop you! I think that white with black may be a little more palatable for the older generations. Just curious, have you mentioned this to your mom/sister/friend? What did they think? If your friends are all for it, and say, “That’s so joegiggle!” I say do it! But if they are a little confused and can’t seem to get on board, I think everyone else will be, too.

The second one is amazing. Wear whatever you want, its your day and should be a reflection of who you are.

I love the idea.

I love black, and wore a black bolero, black heels, and a black cocktail ring on my wedding day, as well as having black in my bouquet. BUT, I can wear a long black dress to other formal events in my lifetime. My wedding day was pretty much the only day where wearing a big white dress would ever be really appropriate, so I went with it.

I plan to have a black wedding dress too. I love the black one all the way!!!! Tradition is something practiced! We would be stuck in the Middle Ages if America practiced what was acceptable a century ago. I support you stepping out and having he wedding of your dreams.

felicia129:  The funny thing is that black wedding dresses, as well as pink, blue, and green wedding dresses, were worn about a hundred years ago, and quite a while before that, too.

It’s interesting how quickly wedding trends and traditions change, and how some things that seem new are quite old, and vice versa.

Rhopalocera:  SO TRUE. My comment was more about laws that were in place that we now see as intrusive on civil rights for all people.

Miss_E_xx:  traditionally women just wore their best dress, so it would have been any colour they liked! The white dress tradition didnt come in until Queen Victoria wore white to her wedding to Prince Albert and the trend took off 🙂
