Our venue has two choices for linens (and I won’t be renting, haha, as our budget doesn’t allow it): white/ivory (I can’t remember which) or black. The black actually looked really nice in the photos, esp. with brighter napkins (they have like 20 colors of napkins available – I’m leaning towards bright red and yellow, which may become ‘our’ colors).
However, we had talked about doing brown suits, since I don’t like plain black suits.
Would brown suits look weird with brown linens? Or am I TOTALLY overthinking this? Or should we go gray suits? J is asian; can asians wear gray? I don’t think he owns any lighter gray clothes (besides tshirts)! He’s ambivalent about this stuff, haha, and thinks I’m overthinking it.

I think that brown and black might look odd. Are you thinking like a khaki brown or a dark brown. I can pull off the khaki and black look in my own wardrobe, but I know chocolate brown and black look ick. Why not ivory linens?
Otherwise, I think gray suits would be cool. What says your Asian man couldn’t rock the gray?

Hahaha I don’t know why but “can asians were grey” kinda cracked me up =) I am an asian girl and love grey 😉
Anywho, I’d personally go with the ivory, as black yellow and red sound kinda ketchup and mustard to me, unless that’s the theme, but I could be wrong, too!

@krissy cake – ketchup and mustard theme, ah hahahaha…. too funny! No… we hadn’t planned on going that route. 🙂
The room we’re using for the reception is kind of blah, and J has been to a TON of receptions and banquets there (it’s on his alma mater campus), and I think most used the white linens. I thought the black might be kind of a classy alternative!
I’m leaning towards red for a wedding color because I keep finding red Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses I love 🙂 and I feel like after black it’s one of the most wear-able colors (J thinks LBDs look like funeral attire…sigh – I love him and I love that he’s involved in planning, but he’s so not on WB’s wave-length, hahahaha).
@White Sonnet – I really like that shade of gray!
Sorry if it came across sounding ignorant with the ‘can asians wear gray’ comment, haha, I didn’t mean to sound like quite such an idiot. 🙂 It’s just that all the suits J owns are black or navy. Why he has like 4 different black suits is beyond me. 🙂
