When did they start making black moissanites? I hadn’t heard about this. What company makes them?

@hersheykiss2087:  actually moissanite is currently being made in other countries (India, China)where the patent either doesn’t apply or is not respected. All the moissanite under patent is made by the CREE factory in North Carolina, US for Charles and Colvard and distributed to the various vendors.

@lavenderstone:  nice! What are you going to do with it? Be careful you don’t scratch the moissy though as it is only 1/3 as hard as a diamond (Moh’s is not actually linear so moissanite is not as close to diamond in hardness as most people think)

@lavenderstone:  Moissanite is made out of synthetic silicon carbide, don’t know if the quality would be different because it’s made in a different country. It’s probably pretty much the same would think…

It’d make a cool ring in a simple silver prong setting!

Huzzah!! What’re you going to do with it?  It looks lovely!!

I’ve never seen a black diamond in real life… so can you tell me how the moissanite is?  Does it sparkle or is it more of a shine?

@lavenderstone:  Quick question, have you had the stone tested to ensure it is a moissy?

@lavenderstone:  Wow, that’s a huge stone! Very cool! I think the black moissys are more metallic than black diamonds, they are super neat stones, though.

I think it would look awesome in this kind of setting
