My bridesmaids dresses are all different shades of Brown. My bridesmaids and Fiance tell me NO brown suits black suits. My mom is telling me NO black suits brown suits. In the beginning i was always thinking brown. What is everyone elses opinion. I am stumped i don’t know what decision to make.

i would say black with brown vest or tie.. but it is up to you..

I think black suits would be better since you are doing different shades of brown dresses. You could match shirts or ties with the dresses

My friend had brown suits + brown dresses – it looked great. She told the girls to buy their own dresses, so it wasn’t like the matched the browns.

- Wedding: March 2011 - The Viceroy
Black & brown have often be thought of as clashing (that’s why they say don’t wear a brown belt with black shoes for example), but I do think those type of fashion ‘rules’ are pretty outdated. While I think you can do black, I think the brown would look more cohesive. I was in a wedding where the bridesmaids wore brown and the men wore tan & green. Have you considered a tan or grey perhaps?

Are you for sure doing suits, and not tuxes? If you are doing suits, I would recommend getting the darkest brown suit that you can find (just make sure that there is some color added to their outfit, as too much brown in the wedding party can be a bit boring). Tuxwise- brown vest and tie with a black suit looks just fine!

I think black suits would look better. Men look sooo classy in black suits.

I have this exact same situation. I love brown, so that’s what my ‘maids are wearing, but black is classy, and the guys already all own black suits, so we are pairing black with it. I’m sure it would look fine either way, so go for what you want! 🙂 (and I can for sure post some pictures for you to see of how it turns out, if that helps you)

@primp: Suits not tuxes. My fiance insists on wearing a bow tie, So my fiance will have a burnt orange bow tie and vest and the groomsmen are gonna wear burnt ornage ties with an ivory shirt. We are not sure whether the groomsmen will wear vests, but then again if they do the bow tie will be the only thing setting him apart from the other guys.

We are doing brown bridesmaids dresses, with black tuxes with brown vest, tie and hankerchief!
We briefly considered brown tuxes, but we both thought they would look dated in the years to come. The black and brown combo tuxes comes together well and looks sharp!
