Can this work?
Black and Red sleek modern invites for a beach Carribbean wedding?
My Fiance is set on Red, Black & White for his fav sports team… but for a beach wedding???? Is it going to be too much of a clash????

From that, I would not guess that it’s a beach wedding. The invitations are nice, but if you’re trying to get across a feel of your wedding, these fall short.
For what it’s worth, though, you can do whatever you want! I’m just pointing out that invitations generally explain the circumstances of the event so people would know how to dress. Looking at those invitations, I’d probably wear a cocktail dress and be way overdressed for a beach wedding!

OP, it definitely doesn’t portray a ‘beachy’ feel, but if it’s what you and your Fiance want, go for it.

Would Fiance compromise and make red an accent color instead of the main color? Or add in other colors like a tan, oranges, etc – sort of a sunset feel?
I would have LOL’d if Fiance picked colors based on a sport team, but he’s not a big sports guy.

The first few pictures could be a beach wedding (something very sleek, modern) but the last one is definitely not. Could you keep the black and white on the invites and then do a red-orange envelope or envelope liner? Something like this, but with sunset colors:
If you could do something modern like this on the beach, I think it could work:

Oh, and while the black on black in your photos looks really cool, old people will have a lot of trouble reading that. Just something to remember if you have older folks in your guest list.

@abbie017: It does trouble me that it doesn’t convey the theme.. but this is a destination wedding and we want the invitations to say that this is an “official” event that they should spend $1000 on to attend. Sooo I do feel that the sleek look sets the bar high. And, when they attend, we don’t want them dressed casual, since we’re paying a lot to have photographers there. We plan to give each guest a thank you photobook with really nice shots of themselves.
@BooRadley: Excellent idea on the sunset liners! That’s an excellent compromise 😉

I think it’s fine…..I don’t think people pay attetion to that, at least I wouldn’t.

What about this as inspiration ?
The lighthouse image and colors as a main inspiration and then black as an accent color …
Here is another inspiration pic that I think is beautiful

Ok Guys… here’s what I’m gonna do. I already have the black envelopes and I’ll line them with one of these pics. I did a mock up today and it blends perfectly!
It now has a swanky beach vibe (almost Miami feel) that I totally hadn’t thought of. Blues and tans would not have done the job at all. Thanks so much for the suggestions!
Unfortunately I don’t trust my camera to do it justice, but maybe once I’m completely done with everything I’ll post an update.

I think that’s a great compromise! “Miami” is a good way to think of things- glam and modern but still beachy.
