my FH really wants a black wedding ring. Origionally, we looked into black tungsten for it’s durability, and heft (he looooves a heavy ring) but as the black color is really just a coating, he knows overtime it will wear off. Now I’m looking into a solid black ceramic ring. might not be as heavy as the tungsten he loves, but still hella tough, and solid black so it will never loose it’s color. thoughts?

My husband’s tungsten ring hasn’t had the coating wear off yet after two and a half years.

My fiance has one & our jeweler said “under normal wear it will not wear off” if that helps.
What constitutes normal wear, I do not know.

If anyones lifestyle can rub or scratch off a coating, its his. he’s extremely active, we run our own construction company, and he never wears gloves. I told him we could just get another ring in a couple years wh en he wears off/scratches the black coating, but he’s adamently against thr idea of ever wearing another ring
For the record, I may be the only bride to be that doesnt want her man wearing a wedding ring.I jusy think sit too dangerous for his lifestyle

@SuzySchmoozy: I know the feeling. My fiance is in maintenance dealing with heavy equiptment & has seen first hand what arc flashes can do to a hand with a wedding band on it. Needless to say, he will not be wearing his wedding band to work.
I would try the ceramic, based on the predicament. Just my opinion 🙂

my man is a great big, tall house builder all tough lookimg and full-o-muscles. when I mentioned a ceramic ring, he said “huh? like the little figurines we made in elementary school? how do I explain that to the guys?” :p
