Ok bees, I'm calling on you once again to steer me in the right direction. I thought I had found "THE ONE" about a month ago but then I found "YEAH COULD BE THE ONE TOO". I am now at the point of having to make my final decision on a dress to order or risk not having one the day of the wedding and I'm getting cold feet. I have been dress obsessed all weekend until today. I saw "THHHHEEEE ONNEEEE!!!" I absolutely love this dress! I don't know who the designer is but I can easily have it custom made. The only dilemma I have now is the color. As you see the dress is pictured in black and I absolutely love that. I'm sure it will look great in ivory or white as well but this black is just speaking to me. I'm an encore bride so my first thought is I can wear pretty much whatever I want to. My second thought was oh is this going to look too drab and won't look wedding-ish enough. My goal in finding a dress is that I look sexy as heck in it. I've done cute and princess but now that I'm older (35) and maturer I just want to be hot for my FH.
I have several elements in the wedding that I'm working with (bling, feathers, zebra print, touch of green apple, black/white) so I was thinking yeah maybe this will work. The shoes I posted are ones that I can't take my eyes off of either and I think either would work great with the dress.
What do you guys think???
Do it! Doooooooo iiiiiiiiit!!! Also, definitely the silver shoes.
I love it!! My aunt had a black and white dress for her wedding a few years ago. I believe it was actually a prom dress but it was still really nice for her wedding.
The BM's (I was one of them) wore black dresses, the GM wore black tuxes and the groom wore a white tux.
LOVE it! I'm going short and green, so don't worry about it "not looking wedding-ish." You're the bride--you can wear whatever the hell you want. :) Rock it with those awesome silver shoes!
I totally say go for it! I think it would look great with what you are describing, and the sparkly shoes are GREAT. I had a friend who wore a beautiful black dress for her wedding, and it was stunning. She still totally looked like a bride. Love it!
It's stunning! I love it. If the black is saying YES...go for it!!!!!
That dress is really pretty and I like the silver shoes with it. I'm confused about if you would be wearing it in black or not. It looks lovely in black, but you would definately turn some heads with it. If you want black, go for it, but be ready to hear lots of questions about your color choice.
Thanks so much bees! I can breathe a sign of relief now. I feel soooo much better. I can see myself walking down the aisle and its a wonderful feeling!
SMOKING HOT!!!!!! Everyone will definitely remember your day and your dress!
Oh goodness, that is one hot dress. I LOVE the shoes, especially the black ones.
I am drooling right now.
i love it go for it! i definitely think you should just do what you want.
one tiny concern.....the ONLY problem i can see with the black dress is that there is a strong chance your guests will also wear black. just something to be aware of and decide if you care about being the only one dressed in a particular color (like a typical white dress bride).
still, even if all your guests wore black--that dress is so spectacular you would still be the star!
I say go for it in black that dress is amazing and deff the bling shoes!
ahhh :) this is the pronovias cocktail collection :)
Pronovias does amazing dresses :)
Rock it honey !!
I'm going to play debil's advocate here for a minute. The dress is gorgeous, it looks very much like a Pronovias coctail dress. But are you absolutely sure that you want to wear a black coctail dress on your wedding day? I know you are an encore bride, but still a wedding is special. Whenever I think of black wedding dresses I think of Sarah Jessica Parker saying how much she regretted wearing a black dress to her wedding.
If you've got the cajones, then go for it! It's a beautiful dress and it would look gorgeous. If you are still wavering on whether you want to wear black, then you can always compromise--wear white for the ceremony, black for the reception--that sort of thing. But I think you're the bride--wear what you want!
BTW--I puffy-heart louboutins, but man are they hard for me to walk in! The bow ones are gorgeous, but I'd go with silver. The dress already has a lot of flounce on the bottom.
@JennyW1: I've never owner a pair of Louboutins and thought this would be a perfect excuse to spend the money on them. Are my feet going to be crying an hour into the wedding??? Eek
At one time, it was extremely common to marry in a black dress. Go for it!
its still pronovas but in white? I thought maybe its just the style that you like ??
I Love It! I saw the post said black dress and was sure I was going to hate it but it's just so beautiful, works as a weddingdress for sure. Maybe put something on the invites about dressing colourfully, or that the wedding party are in black so that someone else doesn't turn up in a similar dress
@plantains: I can certainly understand where you're coming from and appreciate your point of view. I would certainly have a look on my face if I attended a wedding and the bride came in with a black dress on if I didn't really know her. The flip side of that is those who know me and know me well wouldn't be surprised at all with me wearing a black dress. I never really wanted a white/ivory dress from the beginning and only went along at looking at them for the sake of the whole look of the wedding. I still haven't ran this across FH yet so the color may certainly change
Thanks for your candor!
It's very pretty! Reminds me of Solo in the Spotlight Barbie.
Wear it if you want to! It's your wedding.
@ForeverYoung: I think its the color more so even though I absolutely love the style and have seen this Provnovias dress before. Since the dress is being custom made I can choose whatever color I like. I just saw the black and fell in love.

@Cheeks11: (chuckle) Louboutins are demanding, unfortunately. I used to have one pair (120s--high high heel) and I gave them away because it was too much for me. I am jonesing to try on one of his lower heeled beauties, though I am probably more wary than a true shoe fashionista because I'm a teacher and I wear flats more than I wear heels, which means my arch isn't really trained all that often! I warn you that the bottom pair (anenome) look like his decollete pumps which are hellish on my feet. The top pair look a bit easier to handle. That's not to discourage you, though, just to say do try Louboutins on before you buy them (ESPECIALLY if you are going the ebay route)--you can still purchase them online becuase I believe Neiman Marcus has a pretty nice return policy. But get a feel of what it'll be like walking in them.
This gal did a really nice summary on ebay about sizing Louboutins--dont' get intimidated--it's really helpful. But it does sort of convey why you probably want to do the best that you can in trying on the shoes in person:

omg with those silver shoes HOT!!! if you want to 'brighten' it up maybe add a big ol' sparkly brooch or maybe one of those gorgeous silvery beaded belts to go right under your boobs, it looks like they have one in black there as is.
if you can make it any color maybe go with a rich jewel tone like blood red or emerald green? i love the black, but it hides some of the detailing. be sure to post a pic when you get this sucker made!
Very cute dress, I think you should whatever you like. Its your day and you want to look and feel your best in your wedding dress.
I think that some of the more traditional people could be offended that you are wearing black as the bride when that color is usually for funerals and not weddings. It is different to wear a colored dress but black is the opposite of white in terms of tradition and emotion. But on the other hand it is your wedding and you should do what you want. I am more traditional and think the bride should be in white. The dress is very pretty but it doesn't say bride or wedding when you see it.
If you really want to do it. I mean really want to do it then go for it.
damn. that is one forgeous dress to be honest with you!!! the black versus white or ivory thing is totally up to you. but that dress with a black birdcage veil and either pair of those shoes would be amazing!! have you asked your fi and perhaps your mom and fmil about wearing a black dress and what they think? maybe you could buy a really inexpensive white one and then rock this one at your reception if they have huge problems with it.
That is one hot dress!!! And both of those shoes would soooo work! :)
@crebre80: Isn't it?!! I just got off the phone with FI and he loves the idea of it! I'm so relieved actually. He thinks it will look fantastic with the whole scheme and wants whatever makes me happy as well. Hadn't thought about 2 dresses....that is definitely an option I want to consider. My mom thinks it will look really nice too. I will know for sure whether I'll add a second dress or not when I finally get this dress made and put it on.
@JennyW1: Thanks so much for the sizing info. I'm still trying to decipher all of it but will definitely utilize it should I still choose to brave the Louboutin
I too, do not wear heels on a daily because of my job and my wedding day is not one where I want to be in pain so I may just leave the Louboutins for a date night and get something similar in another brand.
I love how the dress looks but I would not wear that on my wedding day. the silver shoes would look nice with it.
did u ask ur soon to be husband what he thinks? it could be taken as an insult , like death or white is virganal is black a ;;;;;? I like it u shouldnt care about what other people think but people will be talking and I dont think it would be nice...they might be nice to your face,, pretty dress thoe u can look hot in somthing more in the box for sure ... sorry just saw how FH likes it ,, and ur zebra idea .. have fun with it its ur day :)
I say go for it. I wanted a black dress and ended up going with a white dress, and I wish I would have stuck with the black. If it's you and it's fun, do what you want.
