I have a blackberry and Mr. Bee has an iphone.  Lately I've been thinking about making the switch because the iPhone seems so much better for surfing the web.  He can watch youtube videos for goodness sake!

What say you... should I make the switch?

Really?  I guess it seemed so slow I never tried.  Also my blackberry seems to just be a wonky unit.

I'm switching as soon as my BB contract is up.  As soon as I found out I can get my work email exchange on it, I was ready to go.

I have had a blackberry (the pearl) and I now have an iPhone... I totally love the iPhone.  They're pretty darn user-friendly, can do so much, and a lot of the complaints about them have been fixed by the recent upgrade/new phone available.

Not to mention... there are all those crazy apps that can be very helpful (or very distracting ).  I guess I just like that I can put the things I want on my phone, if new improvements come out I can update the phone without having to buy a new one, and the internet is absolutely awesome on it.

The downside then? I would just say I'm much more careful/cautious about the iPhone because there's a whole lotta screen that could get broken.

I have the G-phone and LOVE it. I thought about getting the iPhone but didn't want to make the switch to AT&T (mostly because I've never had problems with t-mobile). I actually do watch a lot of videos and such when I don't feel like reading on my train commute to and from work. I never thought I would use all the features, but I totally do. I have a lot of friends who love the iPhone as well.

Here is the big dif: the keyboard. If you type a lot (emails and texts), you may want to stick to the Blackberry. If you surf the web a lot, the iPhone is great!

I actually text and email a lot on my iPhone... I think it's all about what you're used to and how quickly you adapt to it... It's definitely different, but having the letters spaced weirdly on my Blackberry Pearl made it really awkward to type anything... I have had better luck with the iPhone.

**EDIT** And the new update they did allows you to turn the phone horizontal to be able to have the keys more spaced out on the keybord, which helps a good bit too.

agreed! This is the reason why I like my BB messenger - I type like a mad woman! I have tried using the iPhone keyboard and its like a foreign object to me!

as for BlackBerrys though, the new storm is HORRIBLE! I advise no one to get it!

I used to type a lot which is why I stuck to my BB, but lately I find myself surfing a lot more.  I read Weddingbee posts when I'm on my daily walk with Francis the pug.

I loooooove my Verizon service, but the iphone is just so tempting...

everybody at work has a BB here....i have an iphone and i just like it so much more now that i'm used to it. i can type just fine on my iphone, too. it takes about 2 weeks to get used to. And somehow it just feels "cooler" than a BB, which I equate to a work phone unit.

I heard the Storm was a bad thing, too. I like that my iphone is customizable to what i want on it. I don't put music on it though (battery drainer alert!) but LOVE being able to surf while i do stuff. Or play games like beer pong in line somewhere.

    CRACKBERRY!!!!

I just got my blackberry bold.  Used to have blackberry world phone, changed jobs and got a treo.  My current firm just switched to the bold.  Love it.  But I am more of a texter/emailer/bbmer rather than a web sufer on my handheld device.

I had Verizon before making the switch for the iphone and at first I figured i could live without the iphone, but now that I have it... I know I was wrong! The only downfall is that AT&T service SUCKS! I always drop my calls and sometimes I call my hubby and it will ring, but he'll never get the call. weird! verizon service was much better but their phones were horrible. I'm a Mac girl and I know that windows has many issues -- computers and phones -- and a BB is a windows-based phone. Iphones and Macs are very user friendly and easy to get used to.

I would go iphone since you can do everything and now, with the update, you can copy and paste as well. And the 3G has GREAT speed for surfing the internet!

Palm Pre!  All the snazzy iPhone-like design, along with a slide out keyboard, and automatic syncing with google accounts (for calendar, email, etc.).  Only on Sprint right now, but I have heard it may be coming to Verizon.

The mister just got an iPhone, and as cool as it is to play around with, I think its a total waste and couldn't ever get one myself. Neat yes, but i'd rather be saving my money for a house or maybe that little wedding shindig.

I LOOOOOOOVE my iPhone. From a techy friend that uses his Blackberry ALL the time he thinks the biggest advantage the blackberry has over the iPhone is BB's real time email system. Even with the Push features of iPhone it is not live, meaning it's still only every so often even when it's set to automatic push. While the BB pushes the email to your BB and email account at THE same time.

I use my iPhone a lot on emails and such, not just for web browsing. With landscape format now in the 3.0 it's even easier than before.

Some other pros, since Mr Bee is on iPhone already you can be on a family plan and save $$$ on your phone bill!

You can get the iPhone 3G Refurbished for $79 on AT&T, cheaper than lots of phones, including the BlackBerry! Or the new 3GS which also has a camcorder built in (hello!!) is $199.99 for black or the oh so modern white.

I have the iPod Touch as well...not only does it not make phone calls, but it also does not take pictures, and a lot of apps that work for the iPhone does not work for the iPod Touch because it does not have a built in GPS.

P.S. And I just want to make a remark regarding money spent on iPhone being well spent elsewhere. That can be said for everything. It's where we all choose to spend our money on. For a professional who is always travelling the Blackberry was the only option before. Now there's the iPhone.

Also, Mrs.Bee, I think I've read before that you guys use Google a lot for WB business purposes. You can sign onto Gchat on your iPhone which means you can be on the go and still keep in touch with Pengy. You can link your Google Calendars to your iPhone calendar. I have like 5 different Google Calendars and they are all there along my with work outlook calendar. My Gmail is linked to my iPhone along with my Work Outlook Email. Not only is it a "play" device but it is a extremely functional "work" device as well. So much in fact that the iPhone is our company distributed phone over most company's Blackberries. Meaning all the project managers that have company phones have iPhones instead of the atypical Blackberries.

    Another postscript. :)
Service depends on where you are I think. AT&T is actually pretty good in NYC. Or NY State in general. I've yet to have a dropped call.

Love my Iphone = It was actually a gift from my FH in lieu of a wedding planner - so I can take pictures when I am out & show them to him for wedding details, etc., email vendors, show items to vendors, etc. I absolutely love it!

I have a Blackberry Pearl and FH has the iPhone.  While I do love all the cool applications he has, I'm addicted to my Blackberry messenger.  Additionally, the real kicker is that I can't type for my life on the iPhone.  So it's a Blackberry for me!

I love my i phone.  Someone told me, and maybe it was here that iphone is more of a West Coast phenomenon while Blackberry is much more East Coast, so I'd be interested in the locations of our i-phone vs blackberry users!

I am obsessed with my iPhone.  Seriously...obsessed.  So much so that my blackberry toting FI is considering changing to AT&T  and getting an iPhone, too!  (He would be changing for your reasons, too: web-surfing).  Go for it!

I guess I'd totally be considered "east coast" and I'm an iPhone user.  And I have great service... I know others said that they experienced dropped calls on AT&T... but I'm in West Virginia (think trees, hills, and patches of dead zones for cell phones of all companies) and I have great service with my iPhone.  There's always going to be little connection issues here or there,  but my experience with AT&T and especially the iPhone has been great.

I have a Blackberry for work (they pay for it, and mandate that you use a Blackberry, not any other type of internet/email-friendly device for security purposes with our firm's email system.)  I also have a personal cell phone through AT&T, and the only thing preventing me from upgrading it to an iPhone is that I don't really need one...I already have internet capability and unlimited data minutes through my BB for work, so why pay for it again?  However, if I were to change jobs or my company let us switch from the BB, I would definitely get an iPhone!

Well I don't exactly have a lifestyle which justifies the cost, thats all I'm getting at. I do like it better than the blackberry, but I don't want one for myself.

Also its not the cost of the iPhones/blackberrys that bother me themselves, its the data plan. $30 extra dollars a month, per person, just adds up. I don't have a job where it is relevant either.

I really really want to get a smart phone -- but it'll probably have to wait until after the wedding.  I'm THINKING I'd go with a Blackberry, so reading all these comments is super helpful!

I've never had a blackberry, so I have no comparison, but I do love my iphone. Most of the time. Like every other Apple product I've owned, it is prone to occasional wonkyness, but a restart always solves the problem. Well, except I can't post replies here on the Weddingbee board. That's kind of a drag!

The other drags? The short battery life (at least on the older 3G model I have, surfing the web eats the battery up) and no service in the DC metro stations and on the trains with AT&T.  When the metro crash happened here a few weeks ago I was stuck in the station and had to go up to the surface to call FI to let him know to pick me up somewhere else.

I have a Blackberry, my Mr. has an iPhone, and if I could just figure out how to marry the two, the world would be a perfect place! I love the apps and the web browsing on the iPhone. I love the ease of typing on the Blackberry. Overall though, of the two the iPhone seems more useful. I'm seriously considering crossing over to iPhone-land as soon as my contract is up. I'd say make the switch!

I LOVE the iphone but two things keep me away so far...

I have a more affordable plan with t-mobile thanks to "myfaves" i dont need so many mins and I have a helluva time typing on the iphone and i'm an avid text/emailer.

I have heard so many bad things about the iPhone. Everyone I know who has them, doesn't like it or has gotten a different phone. I have the Treo. I know its a huge phone, but I really love it! I just gotta figure out which phone I'll be getting in September when my contract ends. Thank god you can get blackberrys and PDA phones for so cheap now!

Old School Treo 750p on Sprint's Sero Plan (grandfathered in at $30/month) is my phone and plan of choice.  I am in love with old school Treo phones, and I don't think I can ever switch.  The qwerty keyboard is like no other.  No iPhone or Blackberry for this gal.

I left my beloved Verizon service a couple years ago because I couldn't resist the iPhone and don't regret it one bit. Yes reception can be a bit choppy from time to time, but in my area it's fine 95% of the time and it's good enough for me. On top of that, we use all Mac computers for photo/video editing so the iPhone is just easier for me to sync everything in my life.

I know it's cliche, but I don't know how I lived without my iPhone before...everything is so easy and intuitive. I can't wait to upgrade to an iPhone 3Gs next year!

I didnt have a blackberry before but I did have a clunky touch screen, an ATT phone.  My husband and I switched to a family plan and got the new 3gs iphones the day before our wedding.  I love it.  I didnt think I would because my old phone had a touch screen but an actual keyboard too and I didnt think I would like texting without a keyboard.  It didnt take much getting used to, it is so easy to use and fixes words if you hit a wrong letter that is next to the letter you meant to hit.  Very fast and have not had any problems with it.

i'm all about the iPhone!!!!!!! Mr. CB didn't care for it as much even though he used it. Now he's taken over my old phone since my gf's upgraded me and it's pure heaven for the both of us. There are just so many cool applications. You have 1,000s to pick from, from useful, resourceful to super fun!!! BB just cannot compare to the iPhone.

Come over to the iPhone side!!!!!
