Now that I find myself with some extra time on my hands, I'm thinking about starting a personal blog.  Just something to talk about home renovations, married life, and travel...can anyone give me some advise?  I'm looking to know what you like or dislike about your on blog.  Anything you wish you would of thought of when you first started?

    thanks ladies!

I kept a blog right after I got married. My husband and I moved to his family home in Sri Lanka for 3 months.  I wanted to keep in touch with my friends and family back home but didnt' have the time to write to each of them individually on a regular basis.  Anyway, my advice would be to think about why you are writing your blog.  Is it for yourself, more as a journal, or for others to read? If for others, think about your target audience, what interests them, and keep posts short and sweet.  I found that my "readers" had a limited attn span and mostly appreciated pics and canned updates about my life. I wanted to tell them everything while I was going through this cool int'l experience but they didn't have the time to read pages of my blog everyday.  Fair enough.

    Hope that helps!

I want to start a blog but I'm not sure what I would write about.  You really have to make posts that are interesting to your target audience and on topic.

i blog about everything and nothing. it's a good outlet, even if you don't know what to write about. just write anything.

I'm waiting to get our pro pics back, but i'll be doing a wedding recap series too - write about that!

Take lots of pictures and create original content.  No one really enjoys seeing the same pictures of chocolate chip cookies over and over again.  Spellcheck always.  Keep entries short and concise.  Post regularly; if you set a schedule for posting and stick to it, you're more likely to get a steady readership earlier on.
