On my non-wedding blog, I write a lot about cooking, projects around the house, cool things that I'm doing or vacations we're taking. I use Wordpress and I highly recommend it! It has a lot of great features. Blogger is also good, but Wordpress tends to have better small features (if you're into that). If you're just starting out, it might not matter to you!
Good luck!
Thanks cinema, so how do you start? I looked at wordpress, I guess just download it and there will be a tutorial or something?
I use Blogger. I'm aware now that Wordpress has better little features, but I'm not interested in moving all my stuff over now.
FI helped me with the setup (and even created my banner!) and I'm going to have him help me refresh it a bit.
As for what to blog about, blog about what you're interested in! I write about horror movies. It's something I'm really passionate/excited about so it's not like "work" to me. I'm even hoping to make it a side-job someday. (my blog makes $0 currently)
You just sign up for a username, then figure out what you want your blog to be called, and choose the layout with both sites. It's all online, so no downloading, but really, really easy! And once you figure out both things... write down your blog address on a piece of paper somewhere you won't lose it. When I first started blogging, it was hard for me to remember it!
In the same vein - some of the girls have wordpress, some of us have blogger, others have their own or other domains... is there any way to follow them all??
@Dancy905 - use a feed reader (like Google Reader) to subscribe to them all in one place! It makes reading blogs so much easier.
I blog about cooking -- vegetarian cooking in particular. I use blogger.
Do you keep up with any of the married Bees blogs? Cheese had a post today about blogging after marriage. Her point is that people are attracted to a blog because of the person behind it and their personality, not always a specific topic.
I blog! I prefer blogspot or xanga!
It's alot of fun and it helps me with just putting my thoughts down..like a mental repository!
@ ashlle thanks! I started one - aaaaand I just realized that you can re-name it on the side so you know whose blog you're looking at - I just changed everyone's blog titles to their names on WB! ;)
Just start one! I think the #1 think is to think of who your audience is (or who you want it to be) and write for them. Sometimes if you just write for yourself, it ends up not making sense to anyone, or it can lose focus or ramble. Also try to pick some type of unifying theme for your blog--it doesn't have to be super-specific. It could be anything from "cooking" to "being a 20-something married person." Whatever, really! Just stay away from writing about your work. That could end badly!
I use blogspot because I can link it to my Gmail and Google Reader. One Stop Blogging :)
My big tip is, don't get too crazy about posting EVERY day. That can lead to some pretty boring posts. Spread posts out and keep them centered on one single topic.
Here is my blog: http://crosscountrywed.blogspot.com
I'm trying to figure out how to blog now that the wedding is over and almost all the recaps are done. I loved blogging about my wedding, but now I feel like I have lost my "voice" or my focus. So this is definitely something I am still struggling with!
If you are having Blogspot, or Wordpress host your blog which means you will have to use one of their templates I would suggest Wordpress. Wordpress offer a better selection of templates compared to blogspot. Other than that both companies are great.
Good luck with you blogging ventures!

Since you guys are so good at blogging, I'm thinking about maybe starting one, any tricks, tips advice? I think they are so fun, how do you start, what do you write? Is it like an online journal? I don't even know how they work really.. Any rules or information on how to start would be helpful. Do you find them hard to maintain?
I just need a new project since wedding is over. Feeling kind of lost without something to work on so I figured i'd ask about this.
