Havent posted on these boards in a while but with my IVF cycle coming up I figured I would reach out and ask a question.
Has anyone heard of Natural Killer Cells? I recently had my first actual appointment with my fertility doctor(at Sher Fertility) where I had a fluid ultrasound done and bloodwork for Natural Killer Cells. Before getting these results back, I had only heard of NK cells briefly during our initial consultation with my doctor.
My results came back as me having elevated levels of these NK cells. Upon doing a bit of reserach I learned that everyone has these NK cells as they help fight off against viruses and infection. However, having elevated levels can greatly effect TTC I have learned. These NK cells view the embryo as a foreign entity and your body pretty much ‘attacks’ it, thus leading to infertility and or chemical/miscarriages.
The treatment that I have been prescribed is 2 hr dose of intravenous intralipids prior to embryo transfer as well as a 2 hr dose upon +pregnancy test.
