- Wedding: October 2014
Having a little vent.. Im sure most women of sports loving guys will get this…
a few months ago, Fiance and I sat down and tried to figure out what day we wanted to get married.. Because we want to have an outdoor ceremony, he doesnt want winter, and I dont want summer (regularly gets over 40 degrees celcius here in summer). So that cuts out 6 months of the year… Also where we live is known as one of the windiest places in the world… and the windy season happens to be summer/autumn… so that leaves us with spring.
So we are now choosing to get married in what is the peak wedding season… It is also the time of year when alot of our sporting leagues are winding up their seasons. Now being a typical sports loving aussie male that hubby2be is, there are just a few dates that are considered too ‘sacred’ to get married on( in spring). These include:
- AFL Grandfinal (whole weekend and holy grale of aussie sport)
- Bathurst (whole weekend and holy grale of aussie car racing)
- NRL Grandfinal (whole weekend 2nd holy grale)
- Some opening cricket game (whole weekend … you just dont mess with cricket)
- Local indoor cricket team he plays for wind up (typically a whole weekend piss up which is actually really good fun and a tradition of ours to celebrate)
Also, my birthday lands in late october.. on a weekend, and i do not want to get married on my birthday… (in saying this, he wont be able to forget it)… and a friend is also getting married in early october (we are attending that one)
So after sitting down, with a calender, marking off all of the dates… we manage to agree on the 11th of october…. That is untill today…
I have started making moves on finding our celebrant and we had found the one that was for us.. So I went to book in the date; which also happens to be his only free day for october. Awesome!.. Then I send an email to Fiance to confirm thats the day we want it and can I lock it in.
He then tells me that is the date for Bathurst…. WTF!!!! I fucking sat down with him with a bloody calender and asked him the dates that wernt good… I know its not a biggy or the end of the world by anymeans. I am just having a little wah that my Fiance is an idiot sometimes and his love of watching bloody men run, jump and kick a ball and watch V8 super cars go around a mountain is stupid. (Well, its not really, its actually a really cool car race to watch.)
So its back to the drawing board on setting our date and hopefully being able to secure the celebrant we want. I know alot of people will say tell him to toughen up, but i have to remember, its his day too… Maybe we could just make it easier and have a destiation wedding at bathurst? LOL
Have any other bees found themselves in a simiar situation to this?
