I know I’m really beauty-inexperienced, so this is I’m sure a dumb question :
Future Mother-In-Law offered to take me with her and Future Sister-In-Law to get blowouts before my engagement party. I’ve never gotten one before. I was initially hesitant, because, honestly, it seems like a waste of money to do before a casual party. Maybe I’m wrong about that, seeing as I’ve never gotten one, nor do I have any idea what it costs.
Here is my question, though–if I’m planning on wearing my hair up since it’s supposed to be hot (and we’re right on the water), should I even bother? What are the benefits?
Thanks in advance for any advice! 🙂

If you are going to wear your hair up, I think it’s a waste. A blow out is really great because the stylist can get your hair straight and give it volume and do it like I never can at home. But if you are just going to put it up after, I really think it’s a big waste of money, unless you are going to have her put it up in a styled pony tail.

That said, some salons that do blowouts exclusively will also do Updos. I think it could still be pretty in aponytail but it isn’t technically a blow out at that point, I think.

If you are wearing it up and its on the water where it might be windy, it may be not worth it unless you curly hair, it can make a big difference in the texture and look. Around Boston they can be between $20-$50. I always have one done after cutting my hair cause I wear it down and get the most out of it. You can make it last a few days by using dry shampoo at your roots.

If your ahir will be up, then it is a waste of money. I would figure a way to do your hair on your own – maybe use pinterest to give you easy ideas for fast updos.

@Cheeks225: Okay, this is what I was thinking, I just needed some confirmation. I would assume it will cost more to have her style it in any way, and I just plan on doing a styled pony tail on my own, anyway. Thanks!
@lilbluebird: Thanks! I was also concerned about going to get it done and then Future Mother-In-Law being insulted if I put it up, so this kind of confirms that haha.
@Miss Sunset: Good tips for getting them in the future–thanks! I have really straight hair as it is, so I’m guessing it would be a waste.
