Darling Husband and I were not actively TTC. In fact, we were using the barrier method for the past 1.5 years. This month, AF was out of the whack and i was 8 days late. I freaked out and ask Darling Husband to go to the nearest walgreen’s and get a HPT. DIDN’T do my research and did not know that blue dye tests had plenty of problems and false results.. took my first hpt that night.. test window was positive. There was a faint blue line on the test window, confirmed with Darling Husband. I could not believe it. I cried for almost an hour. Then, we went out to get pre-natal vitamins as i try to wrap my head around ‘the fact’. The next morning, i took my second test with FMU. Accidently peed on the test window, test stick was not interpretable anymore. Control window was a blured mess with bleeding dye and my test window was totally blue. Took the third test the same afternoon. This time i peed in a cup and use the HPT to dip. A horizontal blue line instead of a vertical line appeared on the test window. BAD BAD BAD… how was i suppose to know how to interpret??
Two days later (AF is 10 days late now). Did my research and went out to buy clear blue digital HPT and pink dye test from equate. Tested with 2 days of FMU, both were clearly negative. NOT PREGNANT. I lost 2 days of sleep, tons of tears and worry from all the crazy unreliable blue dye tests. I submitted a complaint to walgreen’s customer service and i am waiting for their reply. NEVER EVER TRUST a blue dye test again.. pheww… AF is still playing hide and seek with me… 11 days late now.. it is having an april fool’s joke with my sanity. My periods were always fluctuating, 5-7 days late from month to month. Never more than 10 days. oh well… we shall wait for 5 more days and see if AF decides to come out from its hiding spot.

It is well known that the blue dye tests are not accurate and that many have trouble reading them and I’m not sure where complaining to Walgreens will take you… I’m sorry you went through all of these emotions to find out the opposite! I would test again in 5 days if it does not come, sometimes pregancies can deceive tests, no matter how accurate they claim to be. It just happens for some reason. Good luck!

ugh, that’s frustrating! However, I wouldn’t say that blue dye tests generally speaking shouldn’t be trusted..I got my BFP on one and it was definitely positive. I’d just take them with a grain of salt..make sure it appears in the allotted time, etc. but I agree with PP, wait a few days, and if still no period and a BFN, call the doctor?

update: day 12.. AF still not showing signs. Breasts are swollen and tender. Otherwise, no other signs of pregnancy. Called my obgyn clinic today. They say i should wait and continue to monitor my period and take another HPT one week later. I have a previous appt with them on may 3 for my second dose of HPV vaccine and we shall see what the doctor wants to do. They would not see me sooner. I just need real answers.. AF or pregnant.. waiting kills…
*continues to pop pre-natal vits* for the invisible baby….

I had a false positive back at Christmas and later took another one and it was negative. AF came a week later. I read all about false positives and it could be that you and I both were chemically prego it just didn’t take for whatever reason. Which could explain why AF was so late and the other prego symptoms.??? I too was confused and frustrated, with emos all over the place. So I too did research and learned the best way to go is with a digital even though they cost more. So what I did this go around was used the cheaper brand for the first test. When I got a positive I tested with the digitial to confirm. Hope your AF comes soon or your OB/GYN gets you some answers.

A few weeks ago, I went to Walgreens and picked up a pack of 2 tests. The first one was okay and the second one from the package already had a visible negative line across the result window before I even got to use it. I thought it was just a bad pack.
On November 30, 2015 I went to Walgreens again and picked up the same pack but had 3 tests. When I got home, I opened a test and it also had a visible negative line in the result window too! Frustrated enough, I opened the rest of the pregnancy tests and they all had the same visible negative line across the result window! Pissed enough, I dipped the stick into my urine and of course, it only emphasized the negative line. In the instruction paper that came with the pregnancy tests, it says that the smaller window on the right shows how accurate the stick is. After usage of the test, if there’s not a visible blue line in that smaller window, the test is not accurate. Now, I wondered, how accurate is this crap. The question is, why the fuck was there a negative line already in the result window even before I got to use it???!!!!! Such a waste of money!
