@lunalyra:  hello. I’m in the uk and I got my ring from Blue Nile. I can’t say enough good things about them they were so helpful. I ordered a 1.12 carat platinum classic comfort fit but when I received it I felt the diamond was bigger than I was comfortable with and I also found the 2.5mm band to be too chunky for my liking.

I returned the ring and exchanged it for a 0.90 carat diamond. I stuck with the classic comfort fit setting but I asked them if they were able to make it thinner for me which they happily did. When it arrived I was thrilled its absolutely perfect for me. I’ll attach some pics. Any other questions just let me know 🙂

My best friend’s engagement ring came from BlueNile and she has had so many problems with it.  She has a 3-stone setting.  Has sent it back numerous times to have the prongs reset as they keep coming back crooked, bent, or twisted.  It’s never been right in the last 4 years since she’s had it.  She finally took it to a local jeweler who fixed it on the first try.  Hopefully your experiences will be better!

Slight picture overload! I was trying to get a good, clear picture of my ring on my iPhone today so I had a couple of new pictures handy 🙂

Mine is a halo setting from Blue Nile (http://www.bluenile.com/ca/halo-diamond-engagement-ring-14k-white-gold_20399), the center stone is .9 and my finger size is a 5. The stone is GORGEOUS. Very high quality and none of the jewelers that have looked at it since have been able to find a flaw in it anywhere (and they’ve all said that they could not have beat the price). So white and sparkly, but hard to capture on camera! Blue Nile is amazing, we were so so happy with their service!

@lunalyra:  the ring you’re planning on getting sounds just like my engagement ring from BN! I’m incredibly happy with mine; it’s exactly what I wanted! 🙂 Blue Nile is great! I also purchased my wedding band as well as my pearl wedding jewelry (bracelet and earrings) from them! Their customer service is excellent, so I’m sure that if you needed to return something it wouldn’t be a problem. If you have concerns, you can email or call them – they’re always quick to respond and quite helpful! 🙂 Good luck!!

@lunalyra:  It ended up costing more for us because we had to have it custom made (they now only offer that setting for center stones sized 1.15-1.55 or something like that…. annoying!!). I really wanted a simple halo, so we ordered it from them custom.. costed more but worth it in the end 🙂 And still cheaper than what we would have paid for the quality in a retail store!

We are very happy with my e-ring from Blue Nile. He also purchased the wedding band from BN and I plan to purchase his wedding band there. This is a 2 ct center stone on a Nouveau Pave band. My fiance researches every major purchasing decision to death, so I have no doubt that he did a ton of research before picking BN for my ring, and he says he got an amazing deal that he could not replicate anywhere else. I interacted with customer service a few times because I was considering mailing the ring back to them for resizing, and they were very helpful and responsive (no long hold times and you can correspond via email).

@PuckBunny:  thank you 🙂

@lunalyra:  thanks I am pretty thrilled with it. Occasionally I wonder if I should of stuck with a bigger stone but this one sparkles more than any other I’ve ever seen, we really did our homework about diamonds! I wouldn’t say you have to go for signature ideal but I certainly wouldn’t go below ideal. Mine is an F VS2 Triple Excellent cut.

Returning a ring to Blue Nile isn’t too bad but I wouldn’t want to do it too many times. I’d been in regular contact with two of their staff so they were quite familiar with my order. I just called them up and said I’d like to exchange for it for the 0.90 I’d already seen online. They put that stone on hold for me and gave me a return code number on a PDF they emailed to me to print out and stick on the return packaging.

I had to call a company(I can’t remember their name now) to insure it which I paid by card over the phone. Then I just had to arrange for FedEx to collect it. It was all a bit rushed for me as I did it on a Friday afternoon a bit last minute once I’d spotted the new stone I wanted.

I think I’ve rambled but to break it down, call Blue Nile who will email you a returns label. Phone insurance company to insure it. Then phone fedex to collect it. The thing that would most put me off again was the oat of insuring. I think it was about £60 but the ring I was returning was worth just under £8,000. But please don’t let that put you off they really are fantastic and I think it’d be hard to find anything of such good quality for such a good price on the high street 🙂

@PermaStudent:  do you mind sharing the details on your center stone?  Color, cut, clarity?  We are thinking about purchasing from BN too.  Your stone has great color and it looks so clear and sparkly in the photos!
