Im having a really rough day today. My FI and I ordered a $15k ring on blue nile. Originally, we put the delivery address as his parents. Then we found out they wouldnt be home today. Therefore, we called Blue Nile and changed the address to his work.
So, this morning when I tried to track the order, it said the ring was delivered at 9:13 and his dad signed for it. But we know nobody was home today. The rep from Blue Nile called Fedex and she said Fedex confirmed it was delivered. I asked whether Fedex asked for ID or not. She said no, whoever open the door. WTF!!! What if the Fedex guy went to the house next door? And the rep actually showed attitude to me for asking questions.
I asked why they didn’t send the shipment to my FI’s work as requested. The rep said we were late when it came to changing the address. And I was like “why didn’t you call us to let us know that arrangement does not work out” I think they have a really bad customer service regarding it is a high ticket item.
My FI is calling his dad to find out but he hasn’t picked up the phone yet. But my FI is sure that no one is home today. His dad left home early in the morning for work. So I am sitting here, frustrated, and want to strangle some one. I don’t know what to do except for waiting for my FI’s father to call him back. But my FI is positive no one is home today.

OMG! I am so sorry…I HATE FedEx!
I just ordered a pendant from Blue Nile last week and I also had to call them and change the shipping address after it was shipped. I was extremely nervous also…BN did the change of address and everything ended up being OK, so if there is a problem it’s now with FedEx.
Here’s a copy/paste of some advice I found:
“(1) Call Fedex and get a ‘Disputed Delivery’ case started (get the case number )
(2) Contact your vendor/shipper that sent the package – let them know what has happened.
(3) If Fedex doesn’t locate/retreive your package (or you don’t find it in the bushes outside your door or your neighbor hasn’t been holding it for you), then have your *shipper* file a claim with Fedex. The shipper is the one that will get reimbursed by Fedex anyway, so make them do that work – – and get them to send a duplicate (if feasible) to you, or otherwise make things right.”
Maybe your FFIL did actually sign for the package and none of this will have to happen.
When it comes down it it, if FedEx stole the package, Blue Nile will be the ones dealing with it and will have to either give a full refund or work to recreate the ring. They had really good customer service when I dealt with them and it was a much smaller purchase, so they should bend over backwards to make sure this gets straightened out. The package is sent fully insured..
Hopefully everything works out and it’s just a glitch…I know it’s a horrible feeling but it will be OK…

I’ve never been ID’d by fedex. I’ve recieved hundreds of signature deliveries from them and not once I have never been ID’d. They ask me for my name, I tell them, I sign, bim-bam-done.
I wouldn’t be too overwhelmed by this fact alone.
Maybe a neighbor did sign for it because your SO’s parents weren’t home.

Ok, I have an update. Since my FI has not received a phone call back from his dad, we both went home early and see if his dad actually signed the package. I could not focus at work anyway. Guess what, the box was left at the door. Obviously no one was home and the Fedex guy faked the signature. This is so ghetto. What Fedex did was totally unethical. If no one was home, the guy should have left a note so that we pick it up at Fedex office later. But no, he went ahead and signed my FFIL name. That’s why Blue Nile kept saying my FFIL signed the package.
I have to admit Blue Nile followed through with this. They did call my FI back to confirm. They also credit us back $100 for all the hassal we went through as a courtesy although it is not their fault. It is Fedex that should take the blame. I am going to call up Fedex and complain about the deliver. The deliver should do his job properly.
But over all, I am happy with my ring. It looks perfect on my 3.5 finger

@goldfish2308: OOps I just read your update and saw the ring was delivered. How unprofessional. FedEx is terrible and I agree with @Starla. Well either way good thing they gave you some money back for your troubles (that was nice of BN) and it was all worth it in the end because your ring looks AMAZING on you! Congrats.

That’s crazy! Complain to fedex! There is a reason why “signature is required” on some packages! Some drivers are such morons sometimes. They just want to do their jobs and go home!

@starla: You are so right. Fedex is the problem. While I like Blue Nile, but the idea of having them shipped out like this makes me nervous. I like to purchase from Blue Nile again, but I don’t know how to get pass this horrible Fedex experience.
