I just put in my order for our wedding photo books, and this is how I figured it:
Hard vs. softcover: Hardcover is fancier and more durable, so if it's going to mostly sit on a shelf, softcover is probably fine, but if it'll be out on your coffee table where it will get a lot of handling, maybe hardcover is better? But if you're book is 30 pages or less, that's really only 15 sheets of paper, and such a slim hardcover book might look odd? I dunno, that was my reasoning =P
Dust jacket or imagewrap: I chose imagewrap just because then your cover art is printed directly on the book, and I think it'll look nicer that way. Also, one of the big reasons I chose hardcover was for durability, so a dust jacket would sort of negate that, since it'll get worn easily.
So, I chose hardcover, imagewrap for our bigger 8x10, 60+ page book, and softcover for our parents' 7x7, 25 page books.
Wow, that was longer than I planned =P Hope that helps!
No, that helps a lot! I didn't even thing about the length versus how a hard cover would look. My book is 45 pages so that probably wouldn't look right with a hard cover. Thank you!
Although I can't comment on the quality of the books I will say my reasoning is the same as peihan17.
So I will be ordering a 8x10 (probably 70+ pages) hardcover imagewrap book too.
I think 45 pages is more than enough for a hard cover though.

I'm almost finished creating my "Why I Love You" book on Blurb as a wedding present. Can you guys give me feedback on which cover type you like best? It's a 7x7 book. I don't have any idea if I want soft, hard with dust jacket or image wrap. Thanks!
