I was talking to my Maid/Matron of Honor last night, and said I didn’t care how she had her hair done for the wedding, because I knew she wouldn’t make herself look like a fool. She said “No, I’m sure you’ll do that for me”. I was really shocked. I asked her to repeat herself, to make sure I heard right, and she wouldn’t and quickly changed the subject!
When I got off the phone, I told this to my fiance and he said “Yeah, the Groomsmen thinks I’m going to do the same..” I laughed and said “Yep, because we have nothing better to do on our wedding day then make fools of other people!”. We got a good chuckle out of it all. We joked that in 25 years we’d be celebrating “Revenge Day – The day we took revenge on our best friends and made them fools” That we wouldn’t be celebrating our marriage, and that we were shelling out all this money just for our own punking enjoyment! lol
But seriously, <bridezilla moment> Do they honestly think that we have nothing better to do on our wedding day than turn it around and make it all about them? </bridezilla moment>
Have you ever heard of people in the wedding party thinking this? I’m still shocked that they would say it! I mean, they picked out their own dresses & suits; they aren’t required to make silly speeches; the chicken dance is banned from the reception; we paid for everything but their shoes… what more do they want out of me??

Uh, totally don’t get it. I have no idea why they’d say that. Strange stuff.

I’ve never heard of this before. Maybe they just perceive brides as putting their BMs into ugly dresses and such. Have there been other friend/family weddings where BMs were made to wear dresses that weren’t very attractive? or asked to do embarressing things? Maybe that’s where it comes from?

They showed little tact. Maybe they were joking, not really that funny.

Excuse me? WTF is that supposed to mean?
Considering you let them pick their own attire, I have no idea where this might be coming from, but I’d be pretty miffed at that comment. They make it sound like they’re embarrassed to be your friends and standing up for you on your wedding day.
I’m so sorry they said that, I’d be pretty hurt.

I was like What when I read this??? Unless you two are practical jokesters??? I don’t get it!!!

I have no idea where her comment came from…?

Good for you for keeping your cool!! I would’ve gotten snarky back and said “Well, I wasn’t planning on it, but thank you for the reminder. Now I will make sure I will! I might not even wait until wedding day. Can I get started now?”

I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who instantly thought “WTF?”!
We’re not jokesters. We’re very laid back & mellow. We haven’t asked them to do ANYTHING. No stuffing envelopes. No tying little bows on things. I’ve done everything myself. All they have to do is show up. I seriously don’t understand where they are coming from…

@hotwings: She has never been a Bridesmaid or Best Man. And the Groomsmen I don’t think has ever been to a wedding.
