i love love love this color combo! personally i love the look of yellow dresses, there's a few pictures in the gallery of brides with maids in yellow and they look great~ my BM's said the same thing about wearing yellow tho so we went with the other color, cornflower blue...what about offering the choice of yellow or blue and see if anyone actually wants to wear yellow? or show them your inspiration board, it's so pretty!
i love yellow! my girls are going to be in yellow dresses, so i would always recommend yellow!
My vote is yellow! A nice sunny color for July! What about something kind of in the middle of orange and yellow though. If they don't like a bright yellow, what about a warmer gold? I'm totally in favor of fun and bright but just a touch toward gold might flatter more people. And moms might be more receptive to 'gold' than yellow. My first choice though, would be the yellow you have on your board.
OO, gold is an interesting idea and would still fit my theme! Do you know where I can find dresses in that shade?
I would want to wear yellow as a BM! Such a sunny and happy color, imo. Have your BMs actually tried on yellow dresses? If not, get them to just try them and see how they feel - they might surprise themselves. There are so many different shades of yellow so there's gotta be one that would flatter them. If they are still against it, I'd probably get the BMs to agree on one of your colors (or majority rules). I know it's the bride's day but I'd hate to have my BMs be unhappy about what they are wearing...
I voted yellow because after I saw your inspiration board and that image you posted withthe dresses I felt in love with them! :)

Yellow is cute for summer. But if the BMs feel uncomfortable, maybe go with aqua (which woould also be lovely) and have yellow/orange/white bouquets? Or some accessory/ies?

Yellow is a warm color and really is only flattering on people with warm-toned skin which not everyone has. On a cool-toned person, it makes them look ill. Aqua is actually a cool color that is neutral and one of the only colors that both warm- and cool-toned folks can wear that looks flattering on both (the other being black). At least that is what my sister learned from the color theory class she took at beauty school.
That said, I would pick the aqua dresses.
I like your inspiration board, but I do know where your BM are coming from. I simply can't wear yellow--it makes me look kinda sickly. (Although, for the record, if asked to wear yellow by a friend/bride, I'd say sure). Honestly, in this case, I think I'd go for the aqua dresses and mix yellow and orange in your flowers.
I love yellow! That was my idea at first, but all 4 of my bridesmaids said they would never wear yellow *sniff* So we went with Teal and it worked out perfectly.

I love love yellow. You can suggest to some of the BMs that they could go with a more pastel shade of yellow, then they wouldn't be so flashy.
p.s. I wanted yellow for my BMs too, but was outvoted. sigh.
I voted to Mix the colors just because Yellow can be a tricky color for some skin tones. Take for example mine... I would be much more comfortable in the aqua color than the yellow!

I am a bridesmaid for my friend in yellow and am very unhappy with it :( It's an unflattering color on someone like me (pale skin) and it makes me look bigger than I am. I would never say that to her though, I'm wearing it with pride!
My colors are fuchsia and navy, I am purposefully choosing navy for the dress color since it's more flattering. Although I might let them choose their own shade of blue and shape of dress.
Beautiful inspiration board! I can't be trusted to give an un-biased opinion on this matter, because I look horrible in yellow and good in light shades of blue. That said, I'm sure that at least one of those bridesmaids in yellow dresses felt the same way, and look how beautiful they all look together!
i think go for the yellow! i think when you first say "yellow" it sounds obnoxious, but when you look past that, on particular dresses, it is really cute! show them pictures before they decide that yellow is too crazy. i would wear it, for sure.
I am so glad I remembered your inspiration board!! :) It came in so handy today when I was discussing wedding colors with FH. We are looking at navy/marine blue and yellow...needless to say he wasn't thrilled...then I showed him the board and he decided he really liked it! :) Thanks!!
You should also think of your bridesmaids feelings. Although yellow looks great on pictures, would they be happy and comfortable wearing that color?
I voted for yellow because it seems like that's the one that you really want!! Make sure that your bridesmaids see the wonderful pictures in your inspiration board before they want to rule it out!
I would say mix it up but maybe mix up the shades of yellow so the girls can each find a flattering yellow dress to wear.

I voted mix it up because I know how those couple of bridesmaids feel. I love yellow, it's so pretty and bright, but on me I look sickly, it's just not flattering to some skin tones. I think if you mix it up it's getting what both you and your maids want!
I fell in LOVE with the yellow...and the guys could do a navy vest or something! Honestly, it doesnt look like a flash of light, it looks fresh and cheerufl. Show this board to your mom, she should love it.
Im aggainst the aqua dresses because its tough to find an aqua fabric that doesnt look like polyester...No offense to aqua brides by ANY means, I just havent seen any I truly like. If you're going to go with varying shades like the photo above, that owuld be ok, but all aqua is tough
First of all, I LOVE your colors and your inspiration board. So gorgeous! However, like some other posters, I'm one of those people that looks like death warmed over in yellow. It's just not friendly on me. I chose aqua -- but I think you could definitely work in yellow and make it all pop: sashes on the BM dresses, yellow boquets, etc.

And thanks for all the opinions, girls! It seems like while we all like yellow, that doesn't mean everyone likes wearing them and I certainly don't want to make anyone uncomfortable :/ I'm thinking mixing it up sounds good .... or different shades of blue, not just aqua, might give it some depth?

I love yellow! Thats the colors my BM are going to be wearing. I just love how it pops in pictures and it just says spring and summer to me. My bridesmaids are all light skinned except for 1 of them, and i was concerned about it washing them out too. But you just have to make sure you pick a good yellow that compliments them. i prefer the bright yellow like you have in your picture, i think its a beautiful color.

Alright ~ here's my first wedding dilema. In deciding my theme, I knew I wanted bright and cheerful. I live in southern California and in a great tourist spot. I also love all the retro inspiration that California's spanish and citrus history lends. Soo, I searched the web and made my first inspiration board with the main colors as aqua, tangerine and yellow. I love it! I think it's great for summer.
My dilema is which color to use to BM dresses [I already decided I'm going to let my girls choose their own since they're all different shapes, sizes and colors :)]. Problem~ I LOVE yellow dresses! I think they are so pretty. However, a couple of my bridesmaids have expressed concern about "looking like a flash of light" whenever they wear yellow. To top it off, my mom just isn't a fan. Since I don't want to do orange dresses, my other option is aqua blue. Personally, I've never pictured myself having blue dresses. I don't know why - they work great with others - but I'm just not feeling it. That said, it IS very pretty. It's flattering on all the girls and I could still get a nice mixmatched look, right?
My question to you is, which would you rather wear as a BM? Is this one of those things where I go with what I want, or compromise for the greater good? I have no doubt it'll look pretty either way ~ I just need a voice of reason. Thanks!!
