If your BMs own them, have them wear strapless bras...makes it easier to try on a variety of dresses.
Leave the thongs/racy underwear at home. I have heard some horror stories from bridal consultants about brides/BMs that come in wearing thongs
Also, it was helpful to me to not wear any jewelry so that I can really see how the dress looked on me.
@JamaicaBride: Great tips! I'll have to offer those attire tips to my girls before we go. Thank you!
I would recommend finding out what price your friends are comfortable spending (assuming they are paying for the dresses). Since your colors are red, a fairly easy to color to find, I would remember that you are not limited to just "bridesmaids" dresses. You can find some beautiful dresses that might be more wearable if you don't resign your search to bridal boutiques. Good luck with your search!
@Krises: Awesome idea to look at places other than just bridal shops. Thank you!
Anyone else? :)
Plan lunch ahead of time. Probably 3 stores max. Everyone starts to get really cranky at the second store!
If you can, take pictures of all the girls in the dress(es) you decide on. I only did this for 3 of my girls and wish I took pics of the rest of the ladies. Also, don't let the sales associate hassle you. If you don't need her help, politely tell her you and your ladies can work on this and you will ask her if you have any questions. My SA kinda ruined my experience. She was constantly talking to me and telling me things about dresses when I literally told her I don't care what color, fabric, style or if the girls wear the same dress. Good luck!
1) discuss price first and make sure everyone is on the same page
2) set expectations first (color, length, style... whatever you're sure about)
3) have them wear strapless bras
4) thank them profusely
5) buy them breakfast (seriously... everyone is in a better mood on a fully belly)
I went shopping with 2 of my 3 bms a few weeks ago and it was SO fun. I'd say one of my top 3 wedding planning days. :)

Beekeeper
Hi bees! I'm going shopping this weekend with four of my six bridesmaids, and it'll be our first time shopping for bridesmaid dresses. I've never been a bridesmaid before, so I've never done this before. Does anyone have any tips?
I've already found some styles online that I like that I figured we could use as a starting point. Also, I figure it's worth noting that my six girls will all be wearing the same dress, same color (red).
So, any words of advice to make sure it goes smoothly and everyone's opinion is heard?
Thank you!
