Hmmm, I think I'd rather have the gift certificate. If you were requiring to get hair done, I would rather have that.
I'd rather have a gift certificate to a store. Paying for hair and makeup is also really nice, but in a way, it's not really a gift for them. And since you aren't "making" them get their hair and makeup professionally done, they can make that decision on their own. I would imagine many of them would just choose to do it themselves.
I thought if you required hair/makeup to get done, you had to pay for it and it didn't count towards their gift?
I'd just give them the gift certificate and a nice letter of appreciation. Most girls are pretty good with doing their own hair and makeup.
I actually went out and asked my girl's which they'd rather. They all opted to have me cover their hair/makeup instead of a gift.
Thanks girls! I think I am going to go with the gift certificate. That way it would be something they could use later on rather then something just for the wedding day!
I would rather have a gift certificate. For me, the hair/makeup doesn't seem like a "gift" because I am able to do my own hair and makeup (this is just my opinion).
I did the same thing and just asked. Their hair and make-up is being done by the same vendor, so I'm just paying half the cost. Essentially I'm paying for their make-up since I know that getting hair professionally done for a big event is important to most people, but getting make-up done usually isn't especially if they're more natural.
But I will probably buy them a small gift anyway. Maybe $20-$30 each, like a necklace or something. Not sure about the boys, but it'll probably be a combination of buying something for the wedding (like the ties and socks), with an additional small gift on top.
I'm going to pay for their hair since I want them to have it done, and they can pay for pro makeup if they want it. I will prob buy them a gift or gift cert (~$50) as well.

Need some help on this one! I have 8 bridesmaids and trying to figure out gifts. I was originally just going to do a $100 gift certificate to a really nice restaurant or their favorite store. I also spent about $20 on each already and got body scrub, bath and body works soap and something else little so they have something to open than just a gift cert.
Here's the issue- I'm letting each girl decide if they want to get hair or makeup done as I wasn't planning on paying for it. Hair is $75 and makeup us $70. FI is just giving his guys a $100 gift cert. I was considering paying for their hair or makeup (they could pick one), and give them something else but think that might look cheesy compared to what the guys get. Their dresses were $150 and most are staying in a hotel for at least 2 nights so I feel bad as to how expensive everything is.
What would you guys rather have? Hair or makeup paid for or a bigger amount in a gift cert? Gift cert would be to an amazing restaurant or a place like coach or equally nice store.
Thanks!
