- Wedding: June 2014
One of my BMs just told me she is expecting! She will be about 8 months pregnant at the time of our wedding, and immediately apologized, saying she could back down or just be a “personal assistant” if I didn’t want to have a “huge lady” in my wedding pictures! Well, of course, I am thrilled for her and she is a close college friend so I still want her in the wedding if SHE think she will be comfortable at that time. I don’t really think pictures will look funny or anything! I think I’m going to leave it up to her as time goes on–this is her second pregnancy and she said she still felt fine at 8 months with her first, but you never know if this will be different this time round. BUT… assuming things do go fine and she is still ready and willing to be a BM closer to the wedding, I need to make some decisions on dresses.
We had chosen short SATIN only dresses in Rosewood from David’s Bridal (looks good on both white girls and Asians!), and the girls would be able to pick their own styles. However, browsing through options, I really don’t think there is anything that a 8-month pregnant woman could wear in satin. I do see some maternity-friendly options, but they’re only in chiffon, and the ones I think she’d like are more tea-length, rather than short.
My question is, will it look weird if she is the only person in a chiffon fabric, longer length dress? I don’t want to make her feel like she stands out even more, but at the same time I want her to be comfortable. She said she would probably back out if she couldn’t find a dress that would look decent on her. Another idea could be asking a few of the BMs to wear chiffon as well, but some of them have already picked out ones they like, and overall I don’t really like the chiffon dresses DB offers. The color even looks slightly different =/ Also I feel like it could get complicated trying to push the BMs towards one fabric or the other so I can have an even/balanced number of each fabric style. (I already have an odd number of BMs–7)
What are your thoughts?
