Hi… My groom and I are both Filipino. I would love to have a church wedding but instead we opted to have it at a golfcourse. I love the whole Catholic/Filipino ceremony. I think it’s absolutely beautiful. But since we are not having it at church we are still going to encorporate the veil cord coins in our ceremony. Ive heard and read about all the different Sponsors, I have my bearers flower girls 5BM/GM & 2 Godmothers/sponsors walking down. I was wondering if it’s okay that I use my BMs & GMs to do the candle veil cord and unveiling instead of my Godparents?????? Our Godparents are going to sign as the witnesses for our marriage license.

Hey there! Filipino/Caucasian wedding here! we are having an outdoor Christian ceremony. We are having 2 sets of primary sponsors and 2 sets of secondary sponsors. The first secondary sponsor set is doing the veil, and the second secondary sponsor set is doing the cord. Primary sponsors will say a prayer/blessing over us as we kneel before the veil and cord are removed.
I’ve also been at a filipino wedding where 2 of the bridesmaids did the veil and cord – so i think that’s okay too!

@Aizaxp_20: Hi! Fellow Filipina, we’re having the BM’s and GM’s do our veil and cord and skipping the sponsors. I would just weight it out and make sure your godparents aren’t going to be upset that they’re not doing it. 🙂

@Aizaxp_20: Same as the PP, we are having our BMs and GMs do the veil and cord and skipping the sponsors. I’ve also been to weddings where the principal sponsors were only mention as such in the programs, but did not walk down the aisle or have any other role in the ceremony…maybe that could be an option for you?
