Girl on plane didn't want to talk weddings! How odd!

Bolero jacket detracted from EVERY formal photo, completely my fault.

I dieted. I tanned, which I hate doing and rarely do. I scrutinized every inch of my body every day during the entire month leading up to the wedding. I hiked a 1/4 mile in my wedding dress. I gave up my bridal shower for money to afford a photographer I knew would be completely amazing. I spent close to $2,000 on a dress/veil tiara ... all to achieve this perfect/sexy/beautiful look in my wedding day photos. Everything went exactly right, except ...

I bought this cute bolero jacket to wear with my dress during the ceremony and during the ceremony only (mostly to please the Mormon crowd that is my fiance's side of the wedding). Can you believe in all the excitement of the day I FORGOT TO TAKE IT OFF FOR ALL THE FORMAL PHOTOS!!! I'm SO UPSET. While the photos are absolutely STUNNING due to the AMAZING talent of my photographer, Jared Wilson, I cried last night for making such a stupid mistake. I look beautiful in all the photos he got thanks to his talent, but I had definitely dreamed up a "sexier" beauty that just didn't seem to come through in any of the photos I really love, because I was pretty much covered in garment from head to toe (so not me).

I don't know what to do ... I can't go back. I feel like a butthead for complaining about such amazing photos. I woke up at 3 am this morning and can't sleep over it. I just wish it could be photoshopped out in at least one of the photos I truly love - big blue sky), but I'm not sure that's possible. If you want to see images of what I'm talking about, check out my other most recent post. SIGH.

    I need help/support/something.

EtP!! I love your photos, and thought the bolero looked stunning with your gown!

It may not have been exactly what you dreamed, but it turned out so so so well anyway!

Actually, I thought the bolero was part of your dress (they match extremely well!) and didn't even realize until I saw your comment about it in the other thread. It looks great, and the lace really doesn't give a 'covered from head to toe' look. Seriously!!!

    (((Hugs)))

ps- I'm glad you're still around post-wedding; I was scared you were gone for good, hehe, even though I knew you were probably just basking in the glory of your picture perfect wedding and honeymoon. :)

I feel so sorry for you!  I know what it's like to be so upset over something that you can't (really) do anything about.
I just took a (2nd!) look at your pics and I have to say - you and your groom looked absolutely gorgeous.  There isn't one thing that, as an objective viewer, I would change.  You still look like a stunning, dare I say sexy, bride.  Maybe focus on everything that went right, especially being able to marry the man you  love, and in time the upset will subside?  I really don't have great advice but I wanted to reassure (since most of the WeddingBee world is asleep at the moment!) that you looked gorgeous and the pictures are beautiful.

Maybe you could do a post-wedding shoot (in your dress or not) so that you can portray what you really wished for?  It's could  be an added expense but maybe it would make you feel better?  *hugs* from Dublin!

I know your disappointed and I can understand, since that was something you wanted and I'm sorry. :( But your photos really are fabulous!!

oh weird I just went back and looked again.  When I looked yesterday I didnt even notice!  The bolero is so wel made and so well fitted that it looks like part of the dress and is GORGEOUS!  I know you were going for a sexy look - you got that in teh pre ceremony photos!  The ones with the bolero look elegant and classic.  I know right now its hard to swallow, but I  truly think that in the future you'll be happy about it.  You could always hire your photog for another photo shoot.  I am doing another one just for fun.  But truthfully, you cant take that back so try not to stress too much.  You looked gorgeous and fantastic!

I actually couldn't tell it was a bolero at all - they look beautiful! I had to look really hard to tell it was a bolero, I just thought it was a part of your dress. I don't think it's distracting at all - I love them!

I looked at your incredible, gorgeous, and amazing photos twice and totally didn't even see a bolero! At last I realized that what I'd thought were dress straps in some photos are the bolero. It only appears in some of the photos, right? You know what? If that is your only regret about the photos -- not your own beautiful appearance, or your groom's, not the gorgeousness of the pix themselves -- well, i think you had an incredibly successful and near-flawless shoot!

I think you look absolutely beautiful and the bolero was great! But honestly if it is going to bother you SO much.. maybe see if you can do a TTD session to get those sexy dress pics you want?

That jacket fits in so perfectly! I totally love it!! I understand that you're not thrilled with having it covering up your dress, but seriously.. when I read this post, I was picturing you wearing some kind of big, ugly multicolored puffy bolero - not this delicate little one! I think it's classic and gorgeous, for what it's worth. :)

Thanks everyone, I feel a little better, but part of me still just wishes I could see what the photo looks like without it.

I don't want to do another shoot, nor can I afford it. I'll never be in that place again (we had a destination wedding), and no matter how hard you try, you just cant replicate a specific picture.

The bolero was made to go with the dress and look like little sleeves. The only problem is that the dress shop ordered the dress too big and tried to alter it to fit, changing the look unintentionally, so now the straps look fatter than they should and the jacket rides up a bit ... i could kill that shop. I asked them to replace the jacket for ordering the wrong size and they refused, insisting they could alter it. I should have just left it in the bag :(

Well you looked stunning in your pics and the ones where you hiked up and weren't wearing the bolero are also amazing!!  I promise you all the hard work didn't go to waste, you look stunning.  And you have so many pics from the party with no bolero, hopefully at some point you will look back and love having both included...but i know these things can really nag at you, and it sucks that you can't do anything about it.

First of all, YOU are gorgeous and your wedding was beautiful!! Secondly, as everyone else has been saying, it doesn't look like a bolero at all, and you don't look super covered up. I think the dress looks beautiful and perfect with the bolero, like it should be there! I actually like it better with than without, but my lace dress has lace cap sleeves so I'm biased :)

Not to mention, you still have lots of gorgeous pictures from your first look before you put the bolero on!

I think you look beautiful in your photos--bolero or not.  Honestly, I had to look back to see what you were talking about.  I think you look fantastic in the photos!

FWIW, I had my dress bustled in almost all of our photos and I wish I could go back and change that.  I feel like my butt looks big in the photos (it's really just the dress) and I'm annoyed at myself for not taking it down for the photos.  I was worried about getting the dress dirty, which in retrospect, wasn't that big of a deal.  Either way, just wanted you to know that you're not the only one who would have liked to make changes in your pics. :)

It really doesn't look like a bolero. WHen I first read this post, I had to go back and look at your pics again. Because it's sleeveless, it turned out great. ALL of your pics look beautiful. You did a great job and so did your photog!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! Girl please! Those pictures are some of the best I've ever seen, and it looks like your bolero is actually the dress! i think I actually commented on your other thread about how I loved your dress cause I didn't realize it was a bolero! It looks GORGEOUS and you look STUNNING! You are overthinking this way too much, I promise. Congrats and you look BEAUTIFUL!

Are you just fishing for compliments now? ;) Because you looked totally hot with and without the bolero! And the bolero is part of what made your dress interesting!

If it really, really bothers you, that's what TTD is for, right? Leave the bolero at home!

Oh honey, I just looked at your photos, and I think they (you) look AMAZING. First off, I really like the bolero and I think it looks great in the formal photos with your bridesmaids and such. I love the lace, and it's very bridal looking. You look lovely, really. Also, I think the photos where you should most look "sexy" in are the ones with just your husband (while, in the bridesmaid and family formals, you should look beautiful, glamorous, etc - which you do!), and in your first look photos of you and him you have the bolero off. I think you should pick your favorites from the first look to satisfy your need to have photos of the bolero off, and then enjoy the fact that the beautiful lacy bloero was showcased in so many other photos where you look great with it on!

I'm confused... In all the pictures I saw, you aren't wearing the bolero, and your upper body is rockin'.  I think you need to let this go, because it seems that reality isn't matching your perception... and trust me, I get that... but really... The bolero is beautiful and there are plenty of picture without it too.

@ engaged-I was about to totally agree with you and feel sorry for you..until I looked at the pics. They are beautiful, and there are LOTS of pics without the bolero. It does look like part of the dress. So don't worry. I was thinking that every pic had this big intrusive bolero but it is not the case. You guys look great and so do the pictures.

I went to go look at your pictures, and I had to scroll through twice and look up your names again to figure out what you were even talking about! I thought the bolero was part of your dress! And my thought was, oh, finally a bride without a strapless dress in every picture, that's so different and classy!

I think you looked gorgeous! You definitely couldn't tell that the bolero wasn't part of the dress. That said - would you consider doing a TTD session or even an extra bridal shoot? Maybe this would be a fun way to be a bit more "dramatic" and have some fun with the look! You can try looking on Craigslist for some up and coming photog's who are looking to shoot sessions to gain experience and pieces to their portfolio!

EtP that is one sexy bolero!  I would not worry.  You looked absolutely gorgeous.

If you feel strongly and can't let it go, maybe you could arrange for another photo session on your first anniversary?

By the way -- congratulations!!!  It looks as if you wedding day was lovely and filled with emotion.

I can understand your frustration and although your images from your wedding are beautiful, they may not be what you imagined.  Have you considered a rock-the-dress/day after/trash-the-dress session?  You don't actually have to trash your dress.  It's just a chance to get dressed back up again and take more photos...with out the jacket.  Just an idea.

I just went back and looked at your photos for a second time after reading your other post and you seriously look amazing and have nothing to worry about!! It must be really hard analyzing every detail of your wedding, esp if photos are a big passion of yours, but you really did look sexy with and without the bolero. I wouldn't have even noticed that it wasn't part of your dress and it wasn't covering you up too much at all!! I think that you got a great mix of pictures that are more formal and then more sexy (perfect!)

By the way...you can totally see all the hard work that you put into getting yourself in shape!!! I am super jealous!!
