Scrap that idea- my mother has just emailed me telling me she doesn't think it looks anything special and that second hand is a last resort and definitely not for this dress.
Great- I've tried on 63 dresses, this is the only one that made me giddy, and she doesn't like it.
That dress is gorgeous!
Does your mum have to approve of the dress? (Is she paying for it, and won't buy unless she approves?) If this is the only dress that made you feel giddy, after all your searching, I'd go for it. Who cares if it's not your mum's favorite?
Repeat after me: "This is not my mother's wedding. My mother will not be wearing the dress."
If you love the dress and if it makes you giddy, go look for it. Also, search other designers to see if there is anything like it out there. It's a beautiful dress and you deserve to have exactly what you want on YOUR wedding day. Good luck :)
my mother HATES my dress...her exact words were that it looked "like a wadded up down comforter". i may have also heard her describe the back of my dress as a "clusterf*ck". however, she's happy that i'm happy and her hating my dress has turned into something we laugh about often :-) do you think this could be something that the two of you could just agree to disagree on?
I'd just go ahead and find it anyway! Especially if you're paying for it yourself!
If you love it then get it anyways! It is absolutely gorgeous. Unless your mom is paying for it, then she can't really veto your choice. And even if she is paying for it, she should accept your choice, IMO. If she is paying for it and won't buy that one, is there any way you could just pay for it yourself?

I have fallen in love with Stewart Parvin's Walk the Line with Kiera jacket over it. Unfortunately, its £700 over budget! I have discussed it with my mum and she and I both have no objections to me wearing a second hand copy. So its off to stalk used dress websites. I actually thought she would turn her nose up at second hand, but she is actually ok with it.
