It seems like at least every day since September, the back of my nasal passages dry out to the point that when I close one nostril and sniff real hard, a big fat chunk of dried booger (or something!) goes flying back and I try to spit/cough/hack it up. It's really quite disgusting.I can feel it back there, lingering at the back end of my throat, too! EWWWW

Only in the fall and winter. What's the deal?! I'm so tired of going to the bathroom and sounding like I'm hawking up a hairball! It's so sick. Sick sick sick.

Better yet, does anybody have any tips on NOT forming them in the first place?! ha.

You might want to try doing nasal rinses once a day.  They clear out the sinuses so you don't get all that dried build up.  They feel a little weird but it really helps my allergies!

UGH - I get that sometimes - so annoying - It gets really bad for me if I am around dust because I am allergic!

I wish I could help but I can't really - my doctor gave me a nasal spray at one point but it didn't really do anything and I hated taking it!

Yeah it is the weirdest thing but it really works.  The only problem is that I feel like a fountain any time I move my head for a while.

Post nasal drip is never fun. The neti pot works pretty good, theres also a drug store version. My ENT also suggested flonase spray.

My co-workers on my last job got me hooked on the Neti Pot!  Find it at your local CVS/WalGreens/Drug Store.  I'm in love.  Keeps nose clean and booger free!

Yeah, I second/third/fourth/whatever sinus rinse, but if you're still have problems, see an ENT, yo.  I went to one a couple of years ago and it changed my life!  Turned out I needed surgery and I've never felt better.

Not saying that you need surgery, but some things that just seem annoying can be fixed by medication or something.

Put a warm mist humidifier in your house. Like in your living room, or bedroom. It helps keep moisture in the air, so when you breath through your nose, it moistens it too! No more boogies!

The neti pot is the ONLY thing works for me!!

I used to get tonsil stones, which are REALLY, REALLY NASTY. Only in the fall/winter. I don't get them anymore now that I use a neti pot! I also gargle with warm salt water a couple times a week to make sure I get any that may be forming.

Ugh!  I hate those things so much.

I sit around and make these awful noises, and it still feels like it's there.

I've been wanting a neti pot, but I am too cheap to buy one.

@July: DO IT!  I'm seriously, it changed my entire life!  I got sinus infections every month and was tired all the time.  Got the surgery...recovered for three or four days and have never felt better in my life.

"Scraping" sounds worse than it is.  They do everything with cameras now (endoscopic surgery) and the "scraping" is removing scar tissue and fixing anything else they might find.

I'm not kidding, I had the surgery (took an hour), stayed in recovery for an hour, and was home eating a sandwich an hour later.  I only took three days off of work because it's sort of hard to breathe (and I live in the city, commute on the subway, etc.) but the pain was minimal.

Neti pots are just SO WEIRD! They do help--last time i had a sinus infection it was like magic!

    Ooo a humidifier, I hadn't considered that. That's a great idea!

I'm glad we're all so gross together =]

ya im seriously thinking about it. I got a ct scan of my sinus's and the doctor said they are really bad. I always wake up with swollen eyes. Im just a baby about surgery, and ive never had anesthesia. My dad has really bad reactions to anesthesia and almost died from it.
